It's the season to be freezin'

Happy March, everyone! The saying goes that March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb, and so far that has certainly held true for us! We are having a snow day today, so I thought it would be a good time to try and catch up on allllllll the posts that I haven't been writing since Christmas *sigh*.

This past weekend, we had plans to go to my parents' house for a few days, but the forecast called for some pretty icky weather so we decided to stay home. This meant that we didn't have any plans for the weekend and were able to do a lot of relaxing. We also accomplished a few other things necessary evils (like grocery shopping and taxes . . . ick), but it was great to have some down time.

We did end up getting winter weather Saturday night and all day yesterday. Chris did a short test drive on the roads and decided that we would go ahead and drive to church. Many places had canceled services, but ours weren't. I dressed Brianna in her snowman dress for {hopefully} the last time this season. We love the snow, but we're ready for spring!

It was definitely a slick drive to and from the church building, and after an afternoon of additional snow, sleet, and thunder sleet, our evening services were canceled. It was (and is) frigidly cold outside, but we did step out for just a few minutes to take photos.

I love this photo of Brenson enjoying the snow! He was so fascinated :-).

Cuties :-)!

It doesn't look like much snow because it wasn't. We only got a few inches, but the issue was that we got a layer of ice first, then a snow/sleet mix, then snow.

We were still dressed from church, so it was a perfect time to capture some memories!

Love my girl!

Chris stayed home from work today, and it's been great to have some forced downtime. We're tired of winter, but having an unexpected family day has been a blessing! It's so hard to believe that just a little over a week ago we threw the kids an outdoor birthday party (and it was a huge success . . . such a beautiful day!) That post is coming soon.

But today, we had a blast hanging out around the house and even playing in the snow a bit. We didn't spend too much time outside due to the bitterly cold temps, but we were able to build a snowman, throw a few snowballs, and make snow angels.

The sun was shining at full force, so it was blindingly bright outside.

This photo is right before Brianna throws a snowball at her daddy. I love it because you can see the rotten in her face :-).

Bren loved just tromping through the snow all around the yard.

Brianna throwing snowball again!

Bren got in on some of the action and threw one at me! Isn't his dimple adorable in this photo?

After building our snowman, I couldn't think of anything to use for the buttons so I grabbed some broccoli, ha!

Excuse how terrible I look in this photo . . .

They were holding the snowman's hands :-).

Brianna had never made snow angels before, so I had to give her a quick lesson. She loved it, of course!

My handsome men . . . love them!

As much fun as we had today, we are certainly looking forward to warmer temps. The forecast for Friday is a high 66 degrees, so we'll see!

I love the pics! Y'all got a bit more snow than we did. Ours was mostly sleet. Brianna's little snowman dress is too cute! I wore my snowman sweatshirt today and I'm hoping today is the last time it's appropriate to wear it also! haha
