With the rough summer we had, time just flew by and before I knew it, it was time to get Brianna ready to go back to school. Last year, I stressed more than I should have about getting Brianna ready for school. It was just new for all of us, so the "unknown" was a source of some anxiety. This year, however, I was able to enjoy it all so much more. We were all excited for Brianna to begin FIRST GRADE!
A few weeks before school started, Brianna and I had an evening out to shop for school supplies and a few new school clothes. It's so rare that she and I spend time together - just the two of us - so we soaked up every minute. We ate at Olive Garden (her choice) before shopping and just had the best time together!
Brenson goes to work with Chris every few months because Chris takes him to get his haircut at Chris's barber which is just around the corner from his office. It's a special thing that Bren really loves to do, and Brianna wanted a turn to spend the day at work with Daddy, too. The week before Bri started school, Daddy took her to work with him for the day. She was one happy little lady!
Brianna started school on Thursday, August 18th, and Meet-the-Teacher night was on Tuesday, August 16th. Brianna was SO EXCITED to meet her teacher, find her classroom, and sit at her desk.
Brianna had decided that she wanted a certain first grade teacher, and that's not who she ended up getting. However, Mrs. L seems great, and I think we're going to have a fabulous year with her!
It's going to be a wonderful year!
I don't know why it is, but for some reason first grade seems SO much bigger than kindergarten to me. Even Brianna kept talking about how in first grade they wouldn't get to play much and that she "had to be on her best behavior because everyone knows you've been to school before and you know the rules". Haha. I still got a little emotional on her first day of school, but it was definitely not as hard this year.
No first day of school jitters here!

Last year on the first day of school, we all drove to school together but only Daddy walked in with Bri. This year, we all decided to go in and stay for Rise and Shine. As always, I had a baby on my hip while holding a little hand. LOVE it!
As soon as we walked in the school, Brianna immediately found her class and joined right in. There was no apprehension at all! The first friend she saw was her buddy, Caden, who was in her class last year. He said, "Whoa Brianna, you look like a vampire." Haha. This will be the only year she starts school without her two front teeth (we hope!).
After Rise and Shine, we walked Brianna to her classroom, but she didn't want us to come in.
I did step in her classroom to take a couple pictures, and then we went ahead and left. Before leaving, I paused for a moment to watch her start to work and to just soak her up for a bit. She makes it easy when she's not upset or nervous, but it still hurts my Momma heart a bit to leave her.
