The Big Move - The Construction

If you missed part one, you can read it here

Things got off to a pretty slow start in the building process due to rain delays. However, once the foundation was finally poured, construction of the house really seemed to move along. I would drive by our construction site almost every day for one reason or another, but that wasn't the case for Chris. Because of this, he was always eager to go to the building site in the evening after dinner and see what kind of progress had been made. We would generally do this about twice a week . . . at least :-).

The first time we came over the hill headed toward the entrance of The Woodlands and I looked over and saw walls going up, I gasped out loud. We were so excited to see some vertical progress! I excitedly said to the kids, "We have walls!", and they promptly started chanting, "We have walls! We have walls!" It was such a fun moment :-).

June 9, 2016
Things are finally going vertical!

Of course, we had to get out of the van and walk around in our house :-).

June 13, 2016
Almost finished framing the main level.

Chris and I had discussed writing bible verses on the studs of our house as it was being built, as we wanted a way to physically set Christ as the foundation of our new home. On the evening of June 13, 2016, armed with my Sharpies, we headed to the building site and wrote scriptures on the headers of many of the rooms.

Joshua 24:15 -written above the back windows in the living room

Psalm 127:3 - written on the doorway header of the twins' bedroom

1 Samuel 1:27 - written on the doorway header of Brianna's bedroom

James 1:17 - written on the doorway header of Brenson's bedroom

Proverbs 3:6 - written on a stud in the kitchen

Psalm 127:1 - written on the header of the entry way

Proverbs 23:17 - written on the doorway header of the master bedroom

The Nelson Family established 2001 - written on the header above the fireplace

The entire building process from start to finish took right at five months. For the most part, it felt like it flew by, although there were a few times (toward the end, especially) where it was hard to be patient. We love the finished product, and feel so blessed to call this house our home!
