Florida 2020: HOME

Once Day 12 of vacation arrived, I think it's safe to say that we were all ready to go home. We had a wonderful time in Florida, but home was calling to us!

Our flight left Orlando at 8:10am, so we left our suite at Bay Lake Tower around 5:45am to give ourselves plenty of time to get to the airport, return the rental van, check our baggage, and make it to our gate. Thankfully, everything went smoothly, and we even had time to grab breakfast at McDonald's in the airport before heading to our gate. The S family arrived at the airport shortly after we did, and our bunch was much quieter and calmer that morning than they had been 12 days prior when we were flying out of Tulsa.

On our way to Orlando, we flew through Love Field in Dallas, but on our return trip we flew through Hobby in Houston. Our flight landed in Houston at 9:50am, and we had a one hour layover. This worked out well as it gave us enough time to find our gate, use the bathroom, and grab some *overpriced* snacks from an airport shop. We departed Houston at 10:50am for the final leg of our trip.

During our flight into Tulsa, Caroline sat with Brianna and Brenson and Brooke sat with Sadie and Ross. This was no problem as the kids were worn out and calm the entire flight. We were able to collect our checked baggage quickly once we landed in Tulsa, and we were all loaded onto a Fine Airport Parking shuttle with all of our luggage by just after 12:30pm. The amount of luggage our crew had made me laugh!

And the kids were all SO excited to be riding the airport shuttle bus. I mean, it's not like we had just been at DISNEY WORLD or anything, lol!

Upon arriving home (at around 1:15pm), we were greeted by this sweet sign that my parents made for us on the outside of our house. We thought it was so nice that it took us a few minutes to notice the "Welcome" was misspelled :-).

We were exhausted from a BIG week, a super early morning, and hours of travel. So, the first thing we did upon arriving home was take a fat nap! I didn't even start laundry before we laid down to rest, but I got it going as soon as we all woke up about two hours later. We decided to have an early dinner that evening (since we had missed lunch), so Chris ran to our favorite local Mexican restaurant to get the goods. The kids were still in a Disney state of mind and found a hidden Mickey in the grease on the bag of chips that came with our meal, haha!

As we were tackling laundry and unpacking, Mom and Dad stopped by to say hi for a little while. The kids couldn't wait to tell them about all the amazing things we did in Florida, and I loved hearing what stood out in each of their minds about our trip. Brianna said her favorite part was Magic Kingdom, Brenson's favorite was Hollywood Studios, Brooke's favorite thing was the beach, and Brecklyn loved Animal Kingdom the most.

There was so much that went into making this trip happen, but I'm confident it will be an experience we remember, laugh about, and talk about as a family for years and years to come. I can't say enough how grateful we are to have had this opportunity, and we will cherish the memories of it always.
