We have been studying the book of Hebrews in our Wednesday evening Bible class. It is really a remarkable book... just full of meat. I have always loved chapter 11 especially, but the great thing about doing a verse-by-verse study is that you comb out some of the little hidden treasures of the book.
Recently, as we finished the last chapter of the book, we studied chapter 13, verse 16.
"But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased."
This verse really stood out to me for some reason. It's just so simple and straight-forward, but powerful. Don't you think our society as a whole has lost focus on doing good and sharing? These are skills that we try to teach our children, but are we ourselves practicing them? And yes, I said skills that we teach. I believe we have to be taught how to do good and share. Right now, because of the season, we focus a little more on these things, but shouldn't they be our focus always?
And boy, am I still learning this.
This lady at work a couple weeks back was talking about an encounter with a local "pastor" that she had experienced. She said that he wasn't friendly at all, and when confronted about this, he said, "I'm too busy being a pastor to be friendly." Wow! How we humans sometimes completely miss the big picture!
"But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased."

Wow that totally reminded me of a certain somebody in Tahlequah...won't mention any names but I am sure you know who I am talking about.
How true. Thank you for the reminder. I saw this post earlier today on kindness especially during the Christmas season and I think you'd enjoy it: http://blog.tnfarmgirl.com/?p=1101
