Pregnancy Update: 20 Weeks!

Today marks the half-way point for this pregnancy! It feels like a huge milestone to me.

This is a photo of me that Chris took yesterday before church:
He was out of town all week last week, and when he came home, he said, "Wow! There's no denying that you're pregnant now." Not that we were ever trying to deny it :-). I think he was just making the point that I look pregnant these days for sure.

I mentioned last week that today we were scheduled for our 20 week ultrasound. Chris wasn't able to make it to today's appointment, but his mom and Brianna came with me. I was a bit nervous/anxious for this appointment because it was around this time in my pregnancy with Brianna that we had a scare about her not growing and her small head size. Although everything turned out just fine, I don't ever want to go through something like that again.

However, everything looked GREAT with baby boy. He was measuring right on track (including his head size). We have an ultrasound at every appointment, but this one was a little more in depth. Dr. N. looked at the baby's heart, stomach, kidneys, spine, and even zoomed in on his face to check for a cleft lip. As far as he could tell, everything looks healthy and just as it should. Praise God!

When Dr. N. zoomed in on the baby's face, we could see his nose, chin, and mouth really well. I think he looks just like Brianna did in her ultrasounds . . . which means he looks just like Chris :-).
We also got a strong confirmation that the baby is a boy. I didn't doubt it, but it's still nice to have another confirmation. The only photo Dr. N printed for us this week was of the boy part, so I won't be posting that here. I really wanted some face photos, but not this time :-(.

The baby weighs about 11 ounces now, and is positioned with his head down and body mainly on my right side. I had told Chris a few days ago that my belly looked lopsided, and now I know why! I was also afraid that I had gained more weight than I should have with vacation so recently. Unfortunately, I was correct. I gained 6.5 pounds since my last appointment 4 weeks ago. That puts me at a total weight gain of 7 pounds, which I don't think is bad for 20 weeks, but I am going to try and be a bit more careful. I don't want to gain more than 1 pound per week from here on out.

My blood pressure was 100 over 60 this time, so better than last time.

Chris felt him kick for the first time last night. We were both very excited about this. I love feeling him move, and feel it every day now (though the movements are still just small bumps and flutters for the most part).

One last thing, Little Man has a name! It's {mostly} the boy name we have had picked out for years. I will announce it on here soon. There are a few more people that I want to be sure to tell in person before I make it cyber news.
