It's hard for me to believe that in May I celebrated my third Mother's Day as a Mom. While the actual day wasn't really that smooth, I am so incredibly grateful for my babies.
For Mother's Day weekend, we traveled to where my parents live (about 3 hours from us), and spent the weekend with them. This was Brenson's first "long" trip, as well as his first time to a different state. He isn't the best car rider, so our trip up there was a bit stressful. He cried off and on the entire time we were in the car, but was great as soon as we got him out of the carseat.
On Saturday, the girls (my sister and her daughter were living with my parents temporarily due to a housing situation during this time) all went to Bass Pro Shop to see the animals and aquariums. The little girls loved it! It was a great little free outing. Then, the big girls went and got manicures so we'd have pretty hands for actual Mother's Day.
I am so incredibly thankful for my own amazing mother that is a wonderful example and encouragement to me. This photo is pretty terrible, but it's the best we could do!
On Mother's Day, we all got up and got ready to go to church. After snapping the photos in this post, we loaded up and headed to the church building. On the way there, Brenson had a massive blowout and ruined his pants and shirt. Sigh. I was forced to put him in a {much} less cute outfit that I had in the diaper bag. Then, he fussed and cried through most of the service and all during lunch (we went out to eat). Chris even had to take Brianna out during church services, and she didn't do that well during lunch either. Frustrating! Both of them took a super-short nap that afternoon, so they were cranky on the way home as well. I think they were both a little over-stimulated and totally out of their routine . . . both things that come with the traveling territory. I'm still so glad we went, even though Sunday wasn't perfect :-).
Just look at these cuties! Love, love, love them!
Last year, I began Mother's Day by taking fertility drugs. This year, I woke up to my handsome little man and beautiful daughter. Thinking about God's faithfulness in blessing me with these babies is just overwhelming (in a good way) to me. There were just so many years of praying and wondering and wishing and hoping that sometimes I still can't believe how blessed I am.
