Photo Session, August 2017

I've mentioned on here before that every year around their birthdays, I try to have photos taken of the children. I used to be very on-the-ball about this, but the photographer that we had used for several years (since Brianna was born) stopped doing photography last year. I've had an extremely hard time finding and choosing a photographer since then, primarily because I like studio photos but not at a chain studio (make sense?). This year, my indecisiveness coupled with a spring season where I was barely surviving life due to a pregnancy followed by a traumatic loss equaled me not getting the children's "birthday" photos taken until six months after their birthdays. *hanging head in shame*

However, I knew I'd be really mad at myself if I just didn't get them taken at all this year, so I went ahead and scheduled a session with my friend and fellow loss mom, Kathryn. Kathryn is new to photography, but I really liked the work she posted on her social media sites and the way she used the lighting in those photos. Her photos of my children did not disappoint, even though I didn't have the most cooperative bunch that particular night.

The first set of pics are the edited images that were included with the session.

This is my favorite of the group pics which were not an easy task!

This is probably my favorite of Bren. The fake smile was a struggle this time!

Love this shot of Brianna and Brooke!

And, this is hands-down my favorite of Brecklyn. She wasn't cooperative at all during this session, but you'd never know from this photo!

26
I love this shot of Brooke. There are several really good ones of her!

27

28
Even though we were six months out from their birthdays, I still wanted photos of all the kids in their birthday outfits.

Brianna tends to squint her eyes when she's smiling on demand. She was struggling this night, too.

The rest of these photos are raw images that I requested from Kathryn just because I love having all the "outtakes" in a book. They make me smile even if I don't necessarily want them framed and hanging in my house!

I think this little series of the twins is so cute!

Of course, Brooke still had some good smiles left in her. She is by far the easiest child to photograph of my four!

Whew! It was quite a session, and we were worn smooth out when it was over (the heat didn't help!). I'm so thankful to have these photos, though, and I think Kathryn did a beautiful job with them!
