Labor Day Weekend Fun

Hello, September! Who else is in disbelief that it's September again already?!? I know it's a totally cliche' thing to say, but time just goes so fast.

The kids got a four day weekend from school for Labor Day, so it was really nice to have a break from day-to-day life for a few days. On Friday, Brianna invited her friend, Kennedy, over for a play date. They have been wanting to have a play date for several months, so I thought a day out of school was the perfect time to do it! Kennedy stayed with us all day, and the girls just played and played. They did so well together and had a blast!

My parents came into town later that evening for the weekend. We had a pretty relaxing day on Saturday - the girls played and Grampy and Bren went fishing. Later that afternoon, we invited Russ, Lisa, and Chloe Jo over for a cookout. The weather was perfect for having a fire!

We did plenty of visiting, playing, and relaxing. It was a great way to welcome September!

Bren thought it was fantastic that Grampy was playing on the play set, too!

Really, Grampy on the play set was pretty entertaining for all of us :-).

Sunday was a pretty normal day for us. I love this pic I snapped of my parents and my kids before church.

On Monday (Labor Day), Russ had signed up to participate in a two mile trail run. He has been preparing for it for several months, and talked Chris into doing it with him. When Brianna and Brenson caught wind of the run, they begged to join Daddy and Russ, as well. They had to leave the house super early Monday morning (as the run was about an hour away), but that didn't deter the kids at all. They were ready to run!

Russ sent me a few photos that a professional photographer took during the run. I just love this one of Bren . . . so determined and focused!

I think Bren mostly ran with Russ,

while Brianna and Daddy ran together. Bri wasn't feeling very good this day, but she trucked on anyway.

You can barely see Russ and Bren in this crowd pic.

At the finish line!

I think everyone really enjoyed the run, although Bren said his favorite part was the snacks afterwards, haha. I know the kids love the medals they received, and even wanted to take them to school to show their teachers.

After everyone got back from the trail run, we cooked out for lunch before Mom and Dad had to head back to Missouri. We then spent the rest of Monday relaxing and just enjoying our day off. Sometimes a relaxing weekend is just what we need!
