This is my life . . .

Y'all . . . I captured this video the other night before bed and just laughed when I watched it. It is a pretty accurate representation of my crazy life right now! My spunky Brianna girl is always moving and singing, and the other kids (and adults, apparently) follow right along. In this video, it looks like Bren gets everyone started, but Brianna had started it a few minutes before I began videoing.

Also, they are chanting "burning fire boxes". I'm not sure why? Do anyone else's kids chant strange and random things? Brianna and Brenson will often make up a little saying and chant it for days or even weeks. "Burning fire boxes" was the chant for a while.

It's a crazy life, but I love it :-).

Just a bit of chatter

Back at the beginning of December, I took these adorable videos of Brianna and Brenson talking about the babies' impending arrival. I loved hearing them say the girls' names, and talk about what they think life will be like with babies in the house. Brianna's video is especially cute and funny to me!

Of course, I didn't want to post them before now because they had sensitive information in them :-).

Enjoy!

Little Monkey Man

This video of Brenson's latest "trick" was taken on January 17th. When he first started doing this, it kind of drove me crazy. He wanted to do it alllll the time, and he would jump on the couch and just act completely crazy after he got up there. And, of course, there was the whole issue of him not knowing how to get down safely. I couldn't take my eyes off of him for one second.

However, we have worked really hard to teach him to sit when he's on the couch and how to get down by himself. That coupled with the fact that the fun of climbing on the couch has worn off a bit has made for less climbing on the couch and a happier Momma :-).

I love that he's wearing a onesie in the video and so you can see really well just how long the boy's legs are. He is seriously so big these days *sigh*.

Some random thoughts for today...

Hi, Everyone! I hope you're having a good week so far. I have a few random thoughts that I'd like to share. Yes, this is one those posts *grin*.

  • As usual, I'm loving Autumn. It's my favorite season by far. A week or so ago, I saw this seasonally scented febreeze air effects and decided I needed to try it. Ummm, it's pretty much amazing. It makes my whole house smell delightful AND the scent lasts for a long time. It gets an A+ in my book!

  • Last week, I finally made time to put out my Autumn decor. It makes me smile.

  • This past weekend, we took a whirlwind trip to see my grandparents (about 3 hours away). They have recently moved in to an assisted living facility. Aside from wanting to see them and their new home, we also picked up a few things that wanted us and my siblings to have from their old house.

Love this photo of them with Brenson

My Pappy whistles all the time, and that's what he was doing in this photo.

It didn't take any time at all for Brianna  to find my Granny's little stash of toys and books!

It was a good day and a hard day. They've lived in their house for well over 50 years, so that's the only home I've ever known them to have. Visiting them elsewhere was so strange to me in many ways. But, I also know that sometimes the hardest things and the right things are the same.

  • Brenson started "for real" crawling this past Monday (Oct. 15th). He's been really close for weeks now, but he just couldn't quite get it. A video of him in action is posted below. We were being creative with what we used to motivate him to crawl, and those things included a photo of Brianna as a baby, a coin bank shaped like a woman wearing a dress, and a tube of toothpaste. Crazy, yes??? But hey, it worked! Yesterday, I put his bottle on the floor and he crawled all the way across the living room to get it. I think he needs a shirt that says, "Will crawl for food" haha! It cracks us up how he gets so excited that he'll stop and flail his arms and legs. Oh, and I apologize for the videography at the end of the clip. Ahem.

Happy Wednesday, Everyone!

Brother Brenny

As some of my faithful readers already know, my brother and his family live about 9ish hours away from us in another state. While we see then decently often for living a distance apart, we hadn't seen them since Brenson was born.

The week after Memorial Day (yes, I told you I was waaaay behind on blogging), they were at my parents' house, so I decided to take the kids and head up there so they could meet Brenson.

As a side-note, this was the first time that I had taken the kiddos on a long(ish) trip by myself. Brenson isn't the best car rider, so I was a bit nervous. However, they both did GREAT! I was so happy with how the trip went.

Brianna was so excited when we first got to my parents' house that she was acting completely nuts. It was quite entertaining!

Brenson is not nearly as outgoing as B, so I wasn't sure what he'd think of Uncle, but he loved him instantly.

I was truly shocked (although I shouldn't have been . . . kids tend to love Jeremy) at how Brenson was just completely at ease with my brother. That is just so not like him. I thought this video of Brenson talking to Jeremy was too sweet.

During our entire visit, Jeremy called Brenson "Brother Brenny". It's from a movie or TV episode or something. Anyway, Brenson loved it and would grin every time he would say it!

Brianna has always loved cousin JT. He has grown a ton since we saw him in December, so B didn't know what to think of him at first but it didn't take her long to warm up.

Kaylee loves babies, so she had a good time with Brother Brenny. I think he liked hanging out with her, too :-).

Smiles and clean windows

Brenson is starting to smile more and more. I can't tell you how sweet and precious it is to see his little smiles. The other night, Chris and I were able to capture a few of those darling smiles on camera. I love how excited Chris gets when he smiles! Warms my heart :-).

We have a new camera that we got just before Brenson was born. I am {obviously} still learning how to use it, so please excuse me when I take the camera off of Brenson and pan it around the room. I thought it was no longer recording. In fact, as I'm watching Brianna "clean windows", I even say to Chris, "I'm not recording." Haha! Silly me, I was recording and had no idea until I watched the video. The camera takes widescreen videos, so when I view it in blogger it is off-center. It may be the same for you.

Of course, we rarely have the TV on in the evenings - or ever - and it's on in the video.

Also, please excuse the state of my living room that you see as I pan over to Brianna. Apparently, we were a hot mess that night. Ahem. This is real life :-).

Ring Around the Rosie

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, my 10 year old niece, Kaylee, taught Brianna and Chloe Jo how to play Ring Around the Rosie. They both loved it and played and played and played it while we were in Tennessee at Kaylee's house.

Brianna played it a bit more with Kaylee when we saw them at Christmas, but hasn't really brought it up much since then. The other night, I was on the phone with Kaylee and she asked to talk to Brianna. When Brianna got on the phone, she almost immediately said, "Ring a Rosie" to Kaylee! I was honestly surprised that she remembered and associated since it has been over a month.

Yesterday, on our way home from my doctor's appointment, Brianna started playing Ring Around the Rosie in the car with her mini Barbie doll. AND, I was lucky enough to actually catch it on video! This is for you, Cousin Kay Kay!
