Project Kaylee's Room

Last week, I mentioned that my niece, Kaylee, had major surgery. The surgery went really well, and after a week in the hospital, she is home. She is doing great . . . still recovering and has had a few ups and downs, but overall her recovery has gone very well.

I had promised Kaylee a year or so ago that I would make-over her room (she was wanting a pre-teen room). She came up with the idea of me redoing her room while she was in the hospital, and I thought it was a great idea. So, last week, Chris, Brianna, and I travelled to her house in Tennessee and worked on her room.

Of course, we went to see her in the hospital several times, but I don't have any photos of that. Sad!

She wanted something bright, colorful, and "teen" looking. Here is the view of room when entering the doorway:
The original wall color was a very neutral tan. We painted it this pretty blue.
I found these colored glass bottles at Hobby Lobby and thought they were perfect!
I made the framed Bible verse.
More fun glass bottles! Butterflies are always a cute addition in a girls room.
I also made all three of these framed prints. I was happy with how they turned out!
This shelf and all the stuff on it was already in her room. I just organized it and hung the clock.
Here is a close-up of the super-cute clock! I thought it was perfect for the room.
Brianna LOVED these paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling. She would get so excited when she saw them. My sister, Kaylee, and I made the purse hanging on the wall last summer.
Kaylee already had the desk and bedding, but I added the curtains, desk lamp, and poster on the closet door. It says "Girls Just Want to be Glam" -- perfect for her!
The memo board is also new. The other things she already had, I just rearranged a bit. The K on her door was made by my sister and me last summer when we made the purse.
Behind the door, we hung this full length mirror. I used those decal "stickers" to decorate around it. This was the first time I had used those, and they were so easy and turned out very cute.
Overall, I was very happy with how the room turned out. It was just as I had envisioned it. I didn't get to see Kaylee see it for the first time, but my brother told me that her reaction was priceless. I had so much fun putting it together, so I'm thrilled that she likes it!
