December Fun: Christmas Wreath

Way back when (in Septemberish), my sister made a beautiful Autumn rag wreath. I liked it so much that I had her help me make one during our South Carolina visit in October.

On Chris's side of the family, the adults do not exchange Christmas gifts. While it's nice to not have to worry about what to get everyone, I kind of hate that we don't get his parents anything for Christmas. I mean, I actually like giving people gifts.

So this year, I decided that I would make something for his parents around Christmastime just because I wanted to gift them something. The rag wreath immediately came to mind! Although it's pretty much for his mom more than his dad, I knew she'd like it and that made me happy.

I began with one yard of four different patterns of fabric (purchased at my favorite store . . . the Hob Lob). Using pinking shears, I cut the entire yard of fabric into strips:
As you can see, the strips are not perfectly the same length or even cut straight. It doesn't have to be perfect :-). My kind of project!

Then, I chose 3 colors of tulle and cut 32 strips of each color. Again, not worrying about it being perfect in any way.
I purchased a wire wreath hoop at Hobby Lobby and began tying the strips of fabric and tulle on the hoop at random:
I was so happy with the finished project that I went and purchased enough supplies to make myself one as well! My Autumn wreath does not have tulle in it, but it adds just the right amount of sparkle for a Christmas wreath.
Here is the finished product hanging on my wall:
Love!

Oh my gosh..SUPER cute!!! I wish I had time to make a fun wreath right now! When I was pregnant I bought a plain garland wreath...it's still plain. :-( And the saddest part...I hung it on my front door. Yep, a plain garland wreath is on my front door! HA! But it's better than no wreath I suppose!!

Love yours..may have to do that next year!!! So cute
