Easter 2018

Happy Monday, Everyone! I hope you all had a great Easter weekend. We had a lovely weekend with family and friends.

The kids were out of school this past Friday for Good Friday. I thought this was kind of strange since we just had Spring Break the week before, but I also love having them home! We had Charley here with us part of the day, and we all enjoyed doing a fun little Easter craft. My kids love anything that involves paint!

On Saturday, we had our annual Easter Egg lunch and hunt with Ross & Tia and Russ & Lisa. I probably say this every year, but I love this tradition with our friends! This year, Ross and Tia hosted lunch and the egg hunt. The weather was beautiful, and we had a wonderful time!

Brooke and Brecklyn were pros at egg hunting this year. I loved being able to stand back and just watch my kids hunt . . . that's kind of different for me!

Our crew keeps growing . . . especially from the first year we did this when we only had Brianna! And next year, Caroline will be hunting with us, too!

Lunch was super yummy, and for the first time we actually had a complete separation between kids and adults. How did this happen so quickly?!?

This year, lunch wasn't quite ready when we wanted it to be, so we did the egg hunt first. By the time that was over, lunch was ready so the kids didn't get to look through their eggs immediately. They were pumped to do it as soon as they finished eating!

Brenson got the "rotten egg"! He had a sweet attitude about it, so Tia gave him a little prize :-).

I think this is the kids' favorite part of the day!

After looking through all the eggs, we spent the rest of the afternoon playing outside. Ross and Tia have a great yard for kids to play, and our kids all had a blast!

Some of us even did some kite flying!

At one point in the afternoon, Brianna was running around the yard and one of Ross and Tia's dogs got loose. Their dogs are very playful, so the more she ran the more they chased her. She ended up tripping and falling down (because she is my daughter, after all), and the dogs started jumping and rolling on her. I heard her scream and went running to see what was going on. She was fine (the dogs were just playing), but it scared her pretty good! My kids are already somewhat scared of dogs because Meme and Papa's dog isn't very nice to them, and this didn't help!

The Nelson family . . . obviously Brecklyn wasn't in the mood for pics!

This one is a little better . . . maybe :-).

The Earl family

As you can tell from the family pictures, Brecklyn was done by the time we were getting ready to leave. She was worn out, and she doesn't do well with missing nap time! Approximately one minute down the road, she was crashed out!

The next morning (actual Easter which was Sunday, April 1st), I had the kids open some cards they received from my Aunt Cindy. She's always so sweet to send my kiddos cards!

They also opened a small gift from Grampy and G-Jo. I took these pics to send to them as a thank you.

My kids know that I love having pictures on special days, and we do pictures first then fun (like at the pumpkin patch, certain holidays, etc). That doesn't mean that pictures are always easy, but at least it gives them a little incentive to try for me!

Brianna looked so very grown up in her white dress!

My handsome boy, Brenson

Brooke, also looking SO big!

Brecklyn struggles a bit with photos, but just look how sweet she is!

I took this family photo using a tripod and a timer. Considering the circumstances, I'm thrilled with it!

After photos, the kids know they will get their Easter baskets. We go pretty simple for Easter baskets, but still love receiving them!

Baskets for Brianna, Brenson, Brooke, and Brecklyn 💓

Our tradition is to have all the kids go into the bedroom while we set the baskets up, then they get to come out and look through them.

Bren was excited for new cars!

Brianna loves slime . . . I don't understand it, but she does!

Brecklyn thought the bunny egg was soooo cute!

This boy was happy to find money in one of his eggs!

Brooke was mostly interested in the candy, of course!

Looking so cool in their new shades!

The rest of our day was very "normal" for us. We went to church services, out to lunch, then home for Sunday naps (our naps on Sunday are sacred!).

Happy Easter from my little crew to yours!
