It is mind-blowing to me that we've already completed an entire school year with two kids in school! During the last few weeks of school, we had several activities going on (it seemed like I was at the school every day for something!) so I wanted to write a post dedicated to all the end-of-the-year type activities. One of the teachers even commented to me that as much as I was at the school, I should just get a job there, haha!
During the second to last week of school, Mr. J (Brianna's music teacher at school and private piano teacher) asked Brianna to perform a song on the piano during Rise & Shine. I personally did not feel like she was ready to play the song she picked and tried to encourage her to choose a different song to play. She, however, was set on playing The Donkey and practiced it until she was mastered it.

She did a great job!
Two days later, Brianna let us know that she'd be singing at Rise & Shine with a classmate named Alexis. I was a little confused by this as Brianna and Alexis didn't always get along well. However, Brianna explained that Alexis wanted to sing for everyone but was too scared to practice in front of the class. Brianna had been practicing with her during music class, so Alexis asked Bri to just perform with her, too.
They sang a song from the movie The Greatest Showman. It still surprises me how Brianna doesn't mind being in front of a crowd at all. In fact, I think she kind of loves it!
The next day, Brenson earned his 50 mile running medal during Rise & Shine,
then played his guitar later that day during his Kindergarten graduation ceremony (I posted more about this here).
The last week of school was about the same with activities every day. The week started off with the school's annual field day. I really wanted to volunteer this year, but in the end I decided it would be too much with Brooke and Brecklyn AND all the other activities we had planned to join in on during the rest of the week. However, I am thankful for other parents who volunteered and took these pics!

Apparently, there were some serious moments. I love this photo of the serious faces!
More games!
On Wednesday, May 23rd, second grade took a field trip to the zoo. Chris and I signed up to be sponsors and had a great time with the kiddos. The teachers split us all into groups, and there ended up being so many sponsors that each group only had one or two kids in it. Our group consisted of Brianna, her classmate, Kennedy, the twins, and us.
Brianna and Kennedy loved the elephants!
And the giraffes!

Brecklyn wanted me to take her photo with the flamingos because she was wearing a flamingo shirt :-).
After a full day of walking and animal watching, Chris had a full stroller heading back to the parking lot! Brooke and Brecklyn loved spending the day at the zoo with Brianna and Kennedy!
The next day, the twins and I joined Brenson on his class field trip to Funtastic Island (a mega park). It was a HOT day!

I thought this photo was so cute . . . the girls were riding on this space shuttle when a plane flew over. This park is close to Tulsa International Airport, so the plane was coming in for a landing and very low.

Brenson wasn't keen on taking pictures with me because he was too busy running and playing with his friends. However, we were able to play, eat a sack lunch, enjoy snocones, and play some more with him and his classmates, and I'd say it was worth all the sweat!
Here is a photo another mom took of a few of the boys eating snocones.

The day after Bren's field trip was the last day of school! This year truly flew by!

Bri's teacher, Mrs. C, gave out little awards to all the students in her class. Brianna received the Kit Kat Bar Award for "helping the teacher when the teacher needed a break". I thought this award fit Brianna perfectly!

Wrapping up a great year!
And, of course, I love comparison pics. It is crazy how much they've both grown in just nine months!!!
This was truly a wonderful school year! Both kids grew and matured so much throughout this year, and I consider it an absolute privilege to watch them become the little people they are growing to be. We are all now looking forward to an amazing summer together!
