December is always a flurry of activities at school, and it seems like we're in the building nearly every day during the few weeks before winter break. This year, the kids had three full weeks of school in December before break began, and there were plenty of things going on. I wonder what it will be like when all four kids are in school?!?
During the first week of December, first grade performed a few songs during Rise and Shine. I love the way our school does little performances like this . . . it's so nice to be invited to watch them but to not have to come in the evenings!
First grade sang Christmas Time is Here and it was SO cute! Bren is on the second row in the center . . . directly below the girl with the big white bow.
Love watching our boy perform during Rise and Shine!
Third Grade learned Feliz Navidad, but they didn't perform it during Rise and Shine. They performed it during a field trip to Westbend Winterland, and only parents (no siblings) were invited to attend. Because of this, we didn't get to join them for the field trip. Brianna was pretty put out that they didn't perform during Rise and Shine. She definitely felt like she missed out!
During the second week of December, Brenson was Student of the Week in his class. The timing was kind of crazy with everything else going on, but we made it work.
We helped him fill out and color this fun "All About Me" poster, and I also made him a video that his class watched.
He took a little bag full of things to share with the class, and he also got to take his favorite book (Wendell's Workshop) to share.
On Thursday of that week, he got to invite someone to join him for lunch. He chose Uncle Russ, which I thought was really sweet. It didn't hurt my feelings at all because the next day (Friday) was the holiday lunch where families are invited to join their student. I missed out on the Thanksgiving lunch because Bren was sick, but we made it to this one!

Love my boy!

Classic. Haha.
This one is pretty good, too! Bren's necklace is a Star Student necklace his teacher gave him, and he was proud of it.
We also ate with Brianna at school this day, during a different lunch period. Of course, the twins always attract a crowd!

Brianna's teacher took this one for us :-).

During the third week in December, Bren's class had a Christmas party. I was planning to attend, but the twins both ended up having eye infections that followed a slight cold they had caught. We thought it best to stay home and not spread the love!
However, one of the moms in Bren's class took a few pics and sent them to me. I love getting pics when I can't be there, so I was grateful!
I'm not sure where the mug in the photo above came from, but it was so cute personalized with Brenson's name. All the kids in his class received one, and unfortunately, Bren's did not make it home in one piece. I was super sad, and it was broken beyond repair. He did, however, make it home with a cute little scarf, some treats, and a baggie of reindeer food to sprinkle in the yard on Christmas Eve.
Brianna's class doesn't have "parties" but her teacher does working food days instead. During these days, they bring food and get to eat while they work. I kind of love this! It was on her working food day that Brianna reached the 50 point AR club. Way to go!
And finally, on the last Friday of the semester (December 21st), Bren was awarded his 50 mile running medal!
He was the only student to receive the 50 mile medal this day, so he got to lead the victory lap!
I'm so proud of my hard working kids crushing their goals!
We're thankful for Mrs. S and her dedication to inspiring kids to run!
Great job, Buggy!
