School ended for the year for my kids on Friday, May 17th because they missed the last four days of school while we were in Tennessee (posts to come . . . we had a great time!). I thought I should get on here and write about several "end of the year" events before too much time goes by!
Brianna's private piano teacher, Mr. J, is also the music teacher at the kids' school. This means that she gets the opportunity to perform for the whole school a few times a year. Mr. J asked her to perform at Rise and Shine on Thursday, May 2nd. She was a little nervous before the performance, but once she got up there she did great! I was so proud of how brave she was!
A few weeks before school ended, Brenson finished all his math drills and received a pack of Kit Kat bars as a reward. He was one of only a few kids in his class to reach this milestone.
The first grade teachers at the kids' school are amazing, and they host a "Pastries with Parents" event at the end of the year. I was so grateful Chris and I were both able to join Brenson for this special time.
Actually, our whole family was able to be there! I can't believe they will all be going to school next year *tear*.
Third grade took an end-of-the-year field trip to The Gathering Place in Tulsa. I signed up to join them for the fun, took the twins with me, and we had the best time! Brianna's classmate, Jasmin, was in our group.

Love my big girl!
The Gathering Place is HUGE, so the whole trip was a little stressful for me. I was so nervous that I'd lose one of the little girls in all the crowd. Thankfully, that did not happen!

Brianna rode the bus with her classmates to The Gathering Place, but all parents had to drive their own vehicles. Once we were ready to leave, I took Brianna with me and we had to walk to where I had parked the van (about a mile away). On the way to the van, we weren't in a hurry so we stopped to play on one of the swing sets. I was swinging with all the girls in the swing you can see in the photo below, and had serious lapse of judgement when I decided to jump off the swing while it was up in the air. The place that's circled with an arrow is where I landed hard on my knees. I was okay, but I skinned both my knees and was sore the next day. What was I thinking?!?
We absolutely love the teacher Brianna had this year. Toward the end of the year, Brooke sat on her lap several times during Rise and Shine . . . so sweet!
My kids' last day of school was a big one for them. Mr. J had told me several weeks before that he had ordered a trophy for Brianna that he would present to her one day during Rise and Shine (for being the Instrumental Soloist of the Year). He assured me that he would let me know when he would present her with the trophy so that we could make plans to be there. Brianna's class was showcasing (reciting a special poem) during Rise and Shine on her last day of school, so thankfully we were all there to watch her class showcase because Mr. J presented her with the trophy but had forgotten to let me know!
It was a big surprise for her, and she was beaming.
Mr. J and Brianna . . . we appreciate him so much!
Mrs. R and Brianna . . . she was such a special teacher for Brianna, and I think she'll always hold a spot in Bri's heart as one of her very favorites.
During this Rise and Shine, Mrs. S also recognized the male and female runners of the year. Brianna was second in the school for female runners as far as miles she ran throughout the year (she logged a total of 155 miles!). I know she was disappointed to not be the female runner of the year, but receiving a trophy from Mr. J definitely helped her get over that disappointment very quickly.
We had a fun little group of bowlers . . . this definitely isn't the best photo of Bren. He was unhappy for a bit because he was losing the game, but he got happier as the day went on.
I tried to give him some tips to help him, but I'm not a great bowler myself so I'm not sure I was the best person to give pointers, haha.
Brenson and Hudson . . . they've had their share of issues this year, but I think they've tried pretty hard to work through them!
After bowling two games and eating lunch at the bowling alley, we all went down the road to play at the park for a while. I enjoyed watching Bren play while visiting with my friend, Shana.
Brenson and Mrs. L
In the meantime back at school, Brianna was enjoying a banana split party for learning all her multiplication tables.
Third grade was a wonderful year for Brianna! She made some new friends (who we are very happy with), and absolutely loved her teacher. Like I said above, Mrs. R will probably be in Brianna's heart forever as one of her very favorite teachers. She inspired and motivated Brianna in a way that Bri really needed. I feel like she and Bri are cut from the same cloth, so Bri truly felt a special connection with her. This year was such a positive one for Brianna, and I have watched her grow in so many ways.

First grade is what I would definitely call a growing year for Brenson. We had several valuable learning and growth opportunities that he needed, but they were also difficult at times. Academically, he excelled in every subject, but he had a lot to learn about peer pressure and the type of people he wants to align himself with. I am proud of him for the way he handled some of the trials he was faced with, and I'm certainly thankful for the lessons learned. We love his teacher, Mrs. L, and I'm grateful that he was able to be a part of her class.

I know school is not a positive experience for everyone, so I'm extra thankful that it has been for us so far. My children are growing, learning, and thriving as little people, and it is such an incredible privilege to be a part of that with them. 💓💓💓
That's a wrap on another year . . . now it's time to enjoy our summer!
