April Round-Up!

Happy first day of May! It's hard to believe the kids are winding down their school year, and we're gearing up for summer. We have a very busy month of May planned, but first I want to talk about some of the things we did in April.

Mr. J (the kids' music teacher at school) comes to our house every Monday afternoon to give Brianna a piano lesson. Sometimes, Bren is practicing his guitar when Mr. J arrives, and Mr. J can't help but give Bren a few pointers. During one of Brianna's lessons last month, Mr. J pulled Bren over to play a duet with Bri.

We are still enjoying Lego Club on the first Tuesday of the month. The kids' creativity is incredible.

Brianna & Brenson

Brecklyn & Brooke

We had many days of beautiful weather in April, so the twins and I made sure to soak it up. I took them to the park several mornings, and we even had a few scavengers hunts!

The girls have been enjoying Brianna and Brenson's car (that they've outgrown), and I feel like this is a distinct glimpse into my future. Eeeeep!

The first thing the big kids have been wanting to do when they get home from school is play outside. I love that they want to be active and play, but we still have other things that have to be done, as well.

I try to read to Brooke and Brecklyn each day before nap time. These are the moments I'm going to miss so much when they are no longer home with me all day.

One day, the twins and I went shopping while the big kids were in school, and they spotted these unicorn headbands. How cute do they look in them?!?

They even wanted to wear them to the library for story time. Fine by me!

Chloe Jo turned TEN on April 10th. Her birthday was on a Wednesday, but we joined them for dinner at Hideaway Pizza before church to celebrate. These girls are getting so big!

Speaking of big, I found Brecklyn and Brooke these cute little pull-overs on clearance and they thought they were big stuff wearing them.

My sunglasses broke a few weeks back, so I ordered a new pair from Amazon. I don't generally order things like that from the internet because I like to try them on. I was pleasantly surprised when they came in the mail and I loved them. I sent Chris this pic to show him my new shades :-).

Brianna has been wearing a choker lately (which makes her look SO much older than she is), but she's still not big enough to tote her sisters around like this. She sure thinks she is, though!

Brenson has a friend from school named Zack who's been wanting to get together with him for a while. Zack and his Dad like to go bike riding, so they invited Chris and Bren to join them. Our town has some nice bike trails, and the guys all had a great time!

The next morning, Chris, Brianna, and Bren participated in a 5K event at RSU, along with a few of their classmates, teachers, and their principal.

These runners have really stepped up their game this year, and I'm really happy with their dedication to running.

Uncle Russ joined them for the run, too!

After the run was over, we headed out to Meme and Papa's house for the day (this was the day we celebrated Easter with them). Between biking over four miles the evening before and running a 5K that morning, Bren was flat tuckered out and fell asleep in the car.

Chris has had to go out of town on overnight trips for work a few times recently. The kids HATE it when he's gone for the night (and really, I'm not a fan, either). I had taken them out for dinner, and Brooke was in a moooooood. Chris sent me a text and asked how things were going, and I just sent him this photo as a reply!

As an attempt to boost everyone's spirits a bit, I took them for a walk around our neighborhood after dinner. It's amazing how much a little fresh air can improve moods!

Bren looks a little scary in this one, lol.

April 17th was the one year anniversary of our most recent (fourth) miscarriage. I'm always grateful for MEND recognizing the life and death of our babies, and the flowers they send give me an opportunity to talk to the kids about their siblings that are no longer living.

One afternoon, I was in Brianna's room collecting clothes for the wash when I spotted this note on her memo board. It made my heart so happy to see this! She is truly growing into a lovely young lady, and I love how well rounded her "notes to self" are. Once in a while, a little reminder that maybe I'm getting a few things right with my kids is just what I need.

Speaking of little notes, Brenson brought this home from school one day. I love his honesty in saying that he feels grouchy when he gets up in the morning. For the most part, that is accurate!

One afternoon I went into Bren's room and noticed this large stack of books next to his bookshelf. When I asked him why the books were off his shelf, he replied that all of the ones on the floor are his favorites so he wanted to separate them from the others. I love that the boy enjoys reading and books, but that is quite the stack of favorites!

It's not often that I get to sneak away for an evening out with a friend, especially during months where Chris has to travel several times. This month, though, Amy and I went out for dinner one night and it was just what I needed! I'm so very grateful for this lady!

Chris also got to have a night out when he went to OKC with Russ and Ross for a Thunder basketball game.

I think they might have been having a good time, lol!

And finally, some of my very favorite photos of are candid, every day moments. Chris caught Brecklyn and Brooke holding hands while watching a show on the Kindle, so he was sure to take a photo to share with me. Being a twin mom is the best!

Farewell, April . . . Hello, May!
