June Round-Up!

We just got home from a nine day trip up north that I'll tell you all about. But first, I'm going to share with you other happenings from the month of June. Enjoy!

Brooke rarely naps anymore (although I do make her have quiet time most days). One day, she was very quiet in her room, so I went in there and found her like this:
She plays hard and she crashes hard!

One evening right after dinner I ran to the store. I wasn't gone long, but Chris sent me this photo in a text before I returned home. He was holding down the fort with our four and three extras!

My girls have been very into playing "wedding" lately. My sister and I used to play this a lot when we were little girls, so I totally understand the appeal!

Brecklyn makes a beautiful bride,

and her sisters are just lovely wedding guests!

I guess I feed this interest because I got out my wedding dress and veil, and let Brianna try them on.

Why does she look so grown? 😭

Brooke also had her turn as a bride 💜.

When Brenson first began guitar lessons back in February 2018, his teacher was Mr. Jeff. They hit it off really well, and Bren was sad when Mr. Jeff took a break from teaching. Well, this month, Mr. Jeff returned to teaching and took Bren on as a student again. This makes Bren a happy boy!

One of the more difficult things about guitar lessons is that the girls and I all have to wait for Bren while he has his lesson. Waiting is harder during some weeks than others, but every week feels like a practice in self control for the twins, especially.

Brenson and Brianna have been scheming for some ways to make some extra cash, aside from some of the extra jobs I give them around the house. They asked Chris and I if they could wash cars for money, but I didn't like that idea (I mean, what if they damage someone's car?). Then, they decided they wanted to have a lemonade and cookie stand at the end of our driveway. Our neighborhood is still under construction, so we have quite a bit of construction traffic driving by our house. They felt like this was a built-in market. I liked this idea much better, and helped them make their first batch of cookies to sell.

Well, the first time they went out to sell, they realized it would be much faster and more efficient to walk to the construction sites rather than wait for the workers to drive by (and hope they stop). They went out with 18 bags of cookies, and came home five minutes later with $18 in their pocket! The next time they went out, they took 35 bags of cookies (2 cookies in each bag), and went with Grampy to a construction site in his neighborhood. Once again, they sold out in a matter of minutes! Since then, their cookie business has been thriving!

I bought them this bucket to carry the cookie bags in and customized it with my Cricut machine.

They had helped Grampy build these benches and me make this signage, but when their business model changed from setting up at the end of our driveway to going to construction sites, they didn't need their little setup. However, we hosted a big yard sale in the middle of June, and their setup was perfect for that!

Amy, Matt, Angie, and my parents all joined in our yard sale with us. Everyone sold a ton of junk (Chris and I made over $500!), but we were blown away by Brianna and Brenson's sales. They made over $200 selling cookies and lemonade. Lisa and Chloe came to help us with our sale, and Chloe spent her time helping the kids sell refreshments. They split part of the profits with her, and even paid their little sisters to help them, as well. Even after all that, they each came away with plenty of cash. Some people would give them $5 for one bag of cookies, and tell them to keep the change. It was crazy!

All of our kids have grown closer since being home with each other all day, every day. They definitely have moments of fighting and bickering, but they also team up to do things like orchestrate a concert night for Chris and me. We were even asked to dress fancy!

The twins introduced the big kids,

and Brenson played his guitar while Brianna sang an original song.

Then, the concert concluded with Brooke and Brecklyn singing a little song. SO cute!

I cherish the moments when they are all getting along and enjoying one another!

It is rare that Bren will crawl in my lap for snuggles these days, but it still happens once in a while. He has been doing some sleep walking lately, and it will sometimes result with him cuddled up in my lap. I'll take it!

One of the most difficult things about the way school ended so abruptly is that the kids never got a chance to say good-bye to their friends. Play dates have been super few and far between, and the kids just truly miss their friends! This month, we were able to have a couple play dates again, and it was so nice. One day, we met Gavon, Blake, and Anna at the nature reserve not too far from our house for some hiking.

We saw so many cute, little frogs!

We had so much fun that we decided to grab lunch together, and Blake asked if she and Gavon could ride with us. Sure!

Another day, Zack, Jordan, and Shana came over for a play date. We had a great time!

The day before we left for our Minnesota trip, we attended an adoption shower for our friends, Angie and Jesse. They have been in the process of adopting nine year old twin boys for over a year, and it should all be finalized by the end of the summer. This is a process we have prayed over so much, and seeing it come to fruition is such an incredible blessing! We are just thrilled for Angie, Jesse, and the boys, and we can't wait to make more memories with them in the future. Bren and the boys get along perfectly, so the development of that friendship has also been wonderful to witness. The shower was on a Sunday afternoon, so we went to church, grabbed food for lunch, then headed straight to the shower.

Tia and her girls were there, too, so of course Miss C wanted to sit on my lap. Love this girl!

When I was in college and newly married, I prayed and prayed for a true friend. Angie was the answer to those prayers, and she has blessed my life more than I can say over the past 18 years!

The shower was set up so great for kids. They had several stations (crafting, LEGO, games), and they all had a ball.

This photo of our families together makes me so happy 💗💗💗!

June has really been the month that we've been back to a few normal activities, and it's been wonderful. We've eaten out a few times, had a couple play dates, seen friends, and even travelled! What a good month!
