May was a very busy month for us, and things don't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Between track nationals, finishing school, JT and Mallory's college graduations and wedding, and starting summer run, this month had us on the go! Each of the "big" things have their own post, but this post is about the "little", everyday things that happened.
My friend, Angie, and I met for brunch the first Saturday morning of the month. We spent a lot of time talking about parenting, the challenges of raising kids, and the random things kids do. Later that afternoon, I walked into the toilet room in my bathroom and found this:
I knew a kid had randomly unscrewed that screw, so I had to take a photo and send it to Angie! When I wrote about our track season, I shared that we purchased our own tent, wagon, and extra chair for track meets. We set it up in the front yard to make sure all the parts were accounted for and working, and I sent this photo to Coach Renee to let her know we were ready for track nationals!
The twins were more interested in the box the tent came in than sitting under the tent with us, haha!
During our last week of school, we took the kids out for a special lunch at their favorite Hibachi place. Although they love it, we rarely eat Hibachi because of the cost. They were thrilled!
One Sunday during church services, Brecklyn drew this:
Since it had her cat cousins on it, I couldn't wait to show Lisa!
Our little Caroline turned four years old this month! She brought a cake to Wednesday evening Bible study to share with all of us.We attended an end-of-the-year band concert to support Chloe Jo, and Bri was happy to see her friend, Sadie, there too. Chloe plays the flute and received the most improved band student award for the sixth grade.
One Saturday, the twins were invited to a skating birthday party for our neighbor, Madison. Chris took one for the team and took them to the party.
Brooke was great on skates.
Brecklyn was more timid.
Cuties :-)

The Gathering Place is so fun, so even after the party was over we stayed and played for a while. Each of the kiddos wanted a turn on the zip line.

Bren is such a cute boy and is becoming quite the bookworm. He loves to read in the car (and notice the map sitting beside him).
Once we wrapped up school for the year, we began a fun unit on North American Birds to keep our minds active this summer. Our first lesson was on eagles, and we enjoyed watching a live eagle cam.
We got super excited when an eagle landed in the nest!
We even made these cute paper eagles. We're pumped to see what the rest of the unit holds!
May often brings thunderstorms, but there's no sky like an after-the-storm sky!
Brooke and I had the opportunity to go out - just the two of us - this past Saturday. This is such a rare treat, and we both enjoyed it immensely. She wanted to eat at Panera Bread so she could order a salad and mac-and-cheese. She was a joy!
June always feels like the true beginning of summer for me, and I'm ready for it!
