Another Great Weekend!

This month has been crazy busy, but when I look back on it I can't think of anything I would eliminate from our schedule. At one point, I looked at our calendar and realized we had something every single day and evening of the entire month. Eeeep. That's not typically how we choose to live life, but again, they were necessary and worthwhile things!

One of the "extra" things we chose to do this past weekend was attend a Ladies Day in Olathe, Kansas. The speaker was BJ Rollo from College Station, Texas, and Tia had met and spent some time with her awhile back because her husband works with Tia's brother at the Texas School of Preaching. When Tia saw that BJ was speaking, she asked if I would be interested in traveling to Olathe to attend the Ladies Day. It was a yes from me!

We left about noon on Friday and drove (with our five girls) in our van to the home of Trent and Leah Thrasher. Leah had graciously invited us all over for dinner, and we were looking forward to spending an evening with them.

We loved the message on the driveway welcoming us!

I've known Trent since I was a little girl, but have only more recently gotten to know Leah better. She is great, and we really appreciate the work they are doing for the Lord. As an added bonus, our kiddos all get along well!

We had delicious tacos for dinner and were able to visit for several hours. Trent and Leah are planning a big move to Texas in a few months, and we wanted to hear all about it. Before we left for the night, we had a group Bible study.

Caroline, Brianna, and Scarlett . . . both of these girls are slightly obsessed with Brianna!

After leaving Trent and Leah's house, we dropped Brianna off to stay the night with Vaneza, then turned in at our hotel for the night.

The next morning, we all met at the church building for the Ladies Day, and it was wonderful. We got to see many people we know and love, and the lessons were some of the best I've heard at a Ladies Day. After the lessons, we had a lovely lunch provided by the ladies of the congregation.

The "little" girls table was so cute!

We left the church building around 2:00pm and decided to make a stop by Mahaffie Stagecoach Farm for a few hours before returning to Oklahoma. The girls loved it, and we wished we'd had more time!

The period costumes and props were legit!

Of course, everyone's favorite thing was petting the horses!

I think my favorite part was visiting with and watching the blacksmith.

And I can't forget about the amazing fall foliage . . . so beautiful!

Meanwhile, back at home . . .

Coach Renee decided to host a state XC homeschool championship race. She added this meet to the schedule after Tia and I had already made plans to attend the Olathe Ladies Day, so Bri wasn't able to compete. However, Bren ran and Chris volunteered, and the meet was a success!

The meet was held in Foyil, which was good for our athletes because it's a course they are familiar with. Bren ran 10U, and raced 30 seconds faster (at 7:48) than on the same course earlier in the season!

While it was a hectic weekend, I'm SO glad we made the trip! Being with God's people and in His word is always a blessing!
