February is always a busy month for us with all our birthday celebrations, but I have to admit that it's also one of my favorite months of the year. Here are some of the things we were up to this month.
We started the month with icy and frigid weather, which meant the girls were out of school on both February 1st and 2nd. During this time, they joined us for our homeschool lessons, and I realized how very ready I am for them to be home full-time.

Every year I decorate the house for birthday season, and this year I decided to add a balloon arch to our decor. It was pretty fantastic!

Brooke often asks to sleep in sponge rollers because she loves when her hair is curly. I don't have much patience for rolling her hair (😬), but Daddy doesn't mind doing it sometimes. These girls have no idea how blessed they are with a hands-on Daddy!
More than once this month we were blessed by an amazing sunrise. There's nothing that can compare with God's handiwork!
Grocery shopping is a bit of a dreaded chore for me, so I typically only go twice a month or less. I went to Wal-mart earlier in the month and got a cart with a wobbly wheel. While this is not all that unusual, the wobble got progressively worse and worse as I shopped, until the entire wheel finally flew off the cart! Thankfully, I had already loaded all my groceries into the van and was returning the cart to the cart corral when this happened.
Bren's friend, Zach, is also a February baby (his birthday is just a few days after Bren's). This year, Zach invited Bren to his paintball birthday party.
Ready to play!
Chris volunteered to take Bren to the party, and he got a little too close to the action. Whoops! Thankfully, the paint washed right out.
Zach and Bren have been friends since Kindergarten, and I'm so grateful that we've kept in touch!
Brenson and Brianna are both taking a BizTown class through co-op this year. BizTown is a simulated town program that allows students to operate banks, manage restaurants, earn and spend money, write checks, vote for mayor, etc. The fifth graders at our former elementary school participated in BizTown every year, and this was one of the few things Brianna was sad to miss out on when we started homeschooling. I was delighted when we found out she and Bren could both still participate in BizTown through co-op. This month, they had interviews for BizTown jobs.

Brianna decided to run for mayor of BizTown and had to record a video of herself giving a campaign speech. Her speech was well written, well delivered, and she looked great while giving it!
Looking good!
We should find out soon what jobs they each will have when we visit BizTown in April.
I receive quite a few photos of Brecklyn at school throughout the day, but photos of Brooke are more rare. I was happy to get this one on Valentine's Day.
The best Valentines I could ever hope for!
One of Brenson's favorite things to do in his free time is fish at our neighborhood pond. More recently, we have been letting him go to the pond by himself, but one of us will walk down and check on him periodically. I love seeing him do something he really enjoys!
Especially when he's catching fish!
Finally, Brenson is taking a guitar class through co-op, and they had a performance at the end of February. The performance was very informal . . . they played during the lunch hour in the multi-purpose room where co-op meets. Bren is always so serious when he plays!
Their set was five songs, and some of the other musicians sang with some of the songs. Brenson has no interest in singing.
Our friend, Blake, is in the same class as Bren, so it was fun to see them performing together.
It was a great month, and we are looking forward to what next month holds!
