April Round-Up!

What a whirlwind of a month April has been! I feel like we have had something going on every day and every weekend. Here is some of what has been keeping us busy this month.

The very first day of the month started off with an elementary track meet, and I'm pretty sure we had at least one meet every week after that. I'll write about all the details of the meets in another post, but I do want to share a few photos here.

Our 10U boys relay team won first place in the 4x100m!
Allen, Brenson, Caden, and Cade

Bri is too old to participate in elementary track meets this season, but she and Chloe were there to cheer others on.

Sadie, Caroline, Brecklyn, and Brooke were also cheerleaders for our team!

Since Bri is now in 7th grade, we are experiencing JH and HS meets for the first time. These are much larger and much more serious than our elementary meets!

Our 7th grade relay team took 2nd place in the 4x200m in Skiatook!
Ruby, Bri, Kyrie, and Khloe

Later in the month, we traveled to Guthrie for another elementary meet. The team who hosts this meet classifies the participants based up on age instead of grade. Bri still qualifies as 12U, so she was able to compete in this elementary meet.

After I snapped the photo above, I noticed that Brenson is officially outgrowing his sister. I had to take a few more photos to make sure.

Could Bren be standing any straighter, haha?

We've known for a long time that this day was likely coming. That doesn't mean Bri is happy about it. Sigh.

I asked Bri to smile. I didn't have to ask Bren 😁.

The Azalea church of Christ in Muskogee typically holds a gospel meeting during the month of April. We try to attend their meeting at least one night, and the twins love going because they get to see their friends, Khloe and Shane.

Their smiles say it all!

Cuties :-)

Another special thing that happened this month was a field trip to the movie theater for the twins. AND, they got to ride on a BUS!

The entire 2nd grade traveled to the local movie theater to see The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

I think Brooke's favorite part was the popcorn, lol.

Once they returned to school, the kids got to play outside and eat popsicles. Spoiled kids!

I always enjoy seeing the girls' schoolwork. Brooke brought home this timeline of her life this month. My favorite part is where is says "Six Min Latr", and she became a Big Sister!

This paper of Brecklyn's also amused me . . . love the pose!

One Sunday afternoon, Bren was invited to his friend Allen's birthday party at a trampoline park. We mostly try to avoid places like this, but Bren had a blast!

Earlier this month, Chloe performed at a Jazz Band Contest in our town. One of the beautiful things about homeschool is that the Bigs and I were able to take time on a random Thursday to go watch her play.

It was open to the public, but there were very few people there. However, that was not a reflection on the quality of entertainment and music. They did a fantastic job!

Chloe even played a solo and blew it out of the water!

Our sweet, elderly neighbor, Mrs. Mooney, sent us this wonderful Easter basket to enjoy. The kids greatly enjoy going to her house to deliver food, help her, or just visit, and it just makes her day when they do. We love our special relationship with her!

Now that spring is here, we have had some lovely weather. Our town has a new "Nature StoryWalk" set up near one of the parks, so one afternoon I took the twins to check it out. As you walk the path, the city has set up these frames which contain the opening of a storybook. So, while you walk and enjoy nature, you can also read a story!

The blooming trees were magnificent!

At the end of the StoryWalk, there is a charming butterfly mural. The girls loved this!

Finally, Brenson has been frequenting the neighborhood pond this month. He loves to fish, and has definitely reeled in some nice catches!

Grampy has joined him a few times, and one time they even went to our local lake. The fish they caught at the lake were a little less than impressive, haha.

This is always such a nice time of year as the weather warms up and things begin to bloom again. We have a big month coming up (including track nationals, a graduation, and a vacation - whoohoo), but we try not to look to the future so much that we don't enjoy today. We're grateful for a month of delighting in the present!
