Beautiful Colorado

Has it really been almost two weeks since I've blogged?!? Time has just gotten away from me! No worries though, I will share with you all what has been going on recently in my life... and stay tuned this week for more really exciting posts *grin*!
The main reason for my absence from blog-world is that Chris and I were vacationing in Colorado for about 10 days. It was so wonderful to get away, breathe in the mountain air, and relax. No work, no doctor's appointments, no cell phone service... just us, my parents, the wildlife (and no, I'm not referring to my parents as the wildlife, haha), beautiful scenery, and an abundance of spare time!

We rented this beautiful cabin in a small town about 40 miles from Colorado Springs. It sat right on a lake, and had a clear view of Pike's Peak. It had 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a kitchen, dining room, and two living areas. Every morning and evening, we would sit in the dining room and watch the deer graze and prance around the lake while we ate breakfast or dinner.
The owner of the cabin also has a canoe and kayak for the renters to use. Here is the view from the lake looking west:
And east at Pike's Peak:Some days, we fished, floated the lake, lounged around the cabin and read, made cards, cross-stitched, took long naps, etc. Between Chris and Dad, they caught around two dozen rainbow trout. Mom and I each reeled in one, but we didn't spend much time fishing. I don't have any photos of this, as part of the photos are on Mom and Dad's camera and I didn't get them off before we parted ways.

Other days, we spent sight-seeing around the area. One day we drove to the top of Pike's Peak to take in the absolutely breath-taking view (the photo below doesn't even begin to capture it). We also visited the Royal Gorge,Seven Falls (no picture of this as Mom and Dad have them), and the Colorado State Capitol Building. We also took several scenic drives through the mountains (literally),

saw lots of wildlife,
(fox on your front porch, anyone?)
and even got caught in a hail/sleet/rain storm that resulted in this gorgeous rainbow. All in all, a wonderful, relaxing trip!

Oh, my fam just got back from CO. Just about 30 mins NE of Winter Park. I missed the mountain air this year. I bet you had a blast.

I've been dying for a "really exciting" post from you. So you'd better spill whatever you're holding in before I completely freak out. And if it's what I think it is, you will probably hear me scream all the way across the continent.
