Brianna is Five Months Old!

Writing this five month post for Baby B has been really hard for me. I think I'm in denial that she's already five months old, but also, she is changing so fast these days that I have a lot to write about!

Here is Brianna's five month pic with Baby Kelly... getting so big!
"Ummm, Momma? Tell me again what we're doing here..." Still not so sure about Baby Kelly *grin*.
Although Brianna still loves to cuddle and be held, she has gotten very curious lately. She wants to be sitting up all the time so that she can look around. She is also grabbing at everything now. The other day she was sitting on Chris's lap while we were eating at our favorite Mexican restaurant in town, and she reached up and grabbed a whole handful of rice right off his plate! It caught him off-guard, but she was pretty pleased with herself!
One of the biggest changes in Brianna is that she is becoming increasingly mobile every day. She can roll from belly to back, scoot across the floor on her back, and sit up on her own. She still needs quite a lot of sitting up practice, but she gets better every day!
Brianna has developed a distinct preference for certain toys now. She especially loves her play mat (the side with the ball), the lamb rattle on her swing, and the noisy book in the photo below. She almost always plays with it in the car until she falls asleep.Along with the noisy book, B loves regular books as well. This makes me so happy... a girl after my own heart! We read every day, and she'll usually sit through 3 to 5 books at a time. My grandparents had a good time reading to B and Chloe when we went to visit them last week.
After her 4 month check-up, I started feeding her rice and oatmeal cereal. The first time I gave her rice cereal, she acted like I was inflicting some sort of punishment upon her. However, she has gradually grown to enjoy both the oatmeal and the rice, and gets pretty excited about eating "solid" food. Right now I'm feeding her oatmeal in the morning and rice in the evening. Soon, we'll add a veggie at lunch.
I've wondered since she was born if her eyes would stay blue, and so far they have. Chris and I both love her baby blues! One question that I get A LOT from people is, "Is she sleeping through the night yet?" Unfortunately, the answer is STILL no. Most nights she wakes between 1:30 and 3:00am to eat, then gets up for the day between 7:30 and 8:30am. She sleeps in her bed (still swaddled), but if it were up to her, she would probably choose to sleep on Daddy's shoulder :-).
Brianna is very animated ... laughing and talking all the time. She laughs out loud now, which is so cute that Chris and I can hardly stand it!We bought her a small pool for the backyard, and she loves it! Although she looks somber in this pic, she really does love it!She also loves bath time! She took a bath in the big bathtub for the first time this month, along with her cousin, Chloe. My sis and I took the girls to visit my grandparents, and bathed them in the same tub that we took many o' baths in as little girls. As you can see, the girls loved it!
For the first time in the past couple of weeks, Brianna has shown a little stranger fear. Since I've been home all the time with her, I can tell that she's become a lot more attached to me than before. She has started to reach out for me, and cry and whimper when other people hold her. I'm not too thrilled about this, but hopefully it won't become too much of an issue.
We noticed that she's finally started to rub off some of her hair, especially on the left side and in the back. With as much hair as she has, she can probably stand to lose a little, but it still makes me sad :-(.
Brianna is so fun these days! Chris and I knew we wanted to be parents, but I think we are both surprised at how much fun we're having. I know I say this every month, but we can't wait to see what's in store for us next!
