Happy Friday, blog-world!
We have officially started our first medicated fertility cycle trying for baby number two (say that three times fast!), and I want to give you all an update of exactly what is going on.
However, apparently the meds have already gotten to my head, and I decided to vlog the details this time :-). Please be kind if you decide to watch . . . this is my first time to vlog and there is obviously lots of room for improvement!
A few details that you should know . . .
---> I recorded this on Wednesday, so we are now on CD 5. Yes, it took me that long to actually get the courage to post it :-). I'm still feeling good, so I'm very thankful for that.
---> One major detail that I forgot to mention about the Femara: It is a medication most often given to women to treat hormonally-responsive breast cancer after surgery. However, I am taking it to stimulate ovulation. What should happen is that the Femara will stimulate my ovaries to produce follicles. Then, I will inject Follistim into my body for about 10 days. This will help the follicles grow to maturity. If I have at least one mature follicle, I will do a trigger shot (Novarel), which will tell my ovary to release the mature follicle as an egg. After that comes the IUI, then {hopefully} pregnancy. Of course, my doctor and Courtney will monitor this entire process carefully. The production, growth, release, and fertilization of follicles/eggs are all things that a woman with a healthy reproductive system does on her own. It would be so much easier if I didn't need help with every single step, but that is the way it is.
---> Chris and I both just finished a 5 day Z-pack prescribed to us by Dr. P. He does this to rid our bodies of any undetected infection that may be looming around hurting our fertility. So yeah, lots of meds in my body right now.
If you decide to comment, please be kind :-).
