Pregnancy Update: 28 weeks!

As we hit another big milestone this week (28 weeks!), I am so thankful for this healthy, smooth pregnancy! Here I am, seven months pregnant:
We had a doctor's appointment this morning, and it was quite an eventful time! My mom had never been with me to an appointment (with this pregnancy or with Brianna), so I invited her to come along to this one. So, first thing this morning, my Mom, Brianna, Chris, Brenson, and I all trekked to the doctor's office. Since I'm 28 weeks now, I had to take the glucose test to check for gestational diabetes. I drank the orange sugar drink on the way there, and had my blood drawn not long after we arrived. I should know the results within a few days.

My blood pressure was 120 over 74, so a bit higher than normal for me. Neither the nurse or doctor were concerned with that number though. Also, I have gained 4 pounds since my last appointment (4 weeks ago) which made me happier than the 7 pounds I gained in 4 weeks last time. That puts my total weight gain at 18 pounds. I hope I can only gain 1 pound a week from here on out, but we will see.

I also had to have a Rhogam shot at this appointment. I have a negative blood type, so I had to have this with Brianna as well. I remember this shot being pretty painful, and it was this time as well! It smarted for a good 5 minutes or more afterwards, but it is over now so that's a good thing.

After the blood draw and the shot, Dr. N came in and did an ultrasound. Brenson had his feet down and his head up by my ribs this time. We got a great look at his sweet little feet, and could even count all 10 toes. We also got another confirmation that he is a boy, but once again he was covering his face with his hand. I guess we'll just have to wait until he's born to see what he looks like :-). It cracks me up that we see his "goods" all loud and proud at every ultrasound, but he covers his face with his hand. Typical male :-).

After the ultrasound, the nurse came back in and gave me yet another shot. This time, it was the flu shot in my arm. I wasn't really on board with getting the flu shot, but Dr. N pretty much didn't give me a choice. His exact words were, "Do you know what happens when pregnant women get the flu? They die." Ummmm, okay. He sure doesn't mince words.

I also had to give a urine sample before I left. So yeah, after drinking the glucose drink, having my blood drawn, two shots, an ultrasound, AND a urine sample, I was ready to go home!

We are just so thankful that everything looks great and is right on track. I go back to Dr. N in 3 weeks, then I'll start my every 2 weeks appointments. Before we know it, it will be time to meet our little man. Yay!

Oh my goodness! When I read the part where Dr. N said, "Do you know what happens when pregnant women get the flu? They die." I just about spit out my water! Cracked me up, but also tells you how serious it could be.

You look adorable by the way. Simply beautiful and glowing!! :) I hope all is well with you!
