Fingerprint Tree (Again!)

I'm still working on the New Orleans photos/posts, so in the meantime you all can enjoy this post. I'm hoping to get some of the New Orleans stuff up later this week, but we shall see :-).

Some of my most faithful readers may remember this fun project that we did last year. I framed the finished product and hung it up as wall decor this year:

I was so thrilled with the cute result, I decided that this project needs to be a yearly tradition. Last year, I had to really help Brianna and guide her through the entire project. This year, she wanted to do it herself (totally a theme right now!). So, I let her have at it!

Little Miss Independent loved that she was doing this without Mommy's help!

She was quite meticulous about the whole process.

Her finished product turned out just adorable! Didn't she do a great job? The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was right before she said she was finished, she grabbed the ink pad and stamped it on the paper (you can see it in the photo . . . it's the big yellow spot in the bottom right-hand corner). BUT, it's really okay. I mean, it is her project :-).

I decided that Brenson also needed to do a fingerprint tree this year. I'm not sure what I was thinking, haha! We were doing this project right before lunchtime, and I had initially put him in his highchair for the project. Well, of course he thought it was time to eat! I quickly realized that he would need to sit on my lap for the project, so I moved him out of the chair and into my lap. Oh my . . . cue small meltdown. He was pretty upset with me for not feeding him! Total rookie mistake.

However, he calmed down quickly, and we began the finger-stamping. He did great for about 2 minutes. Then, would you believe my 8 month old lost interest? Yeah, I pretty much had to force him to finish.

We were still happy at this point. There was no way I could wrestle him and the ink and the camera after he got in a snit.

Once we were finished, he was back to his happy little self. And yes, I fed him directly after taking this photo!

This is such a fun little project! You can find the exact image I use by going to google images and searching "leafless tree".

Happy Monday!
