Happy 2022! Our first month of the year has been different (mostly due to Chris not having a job), but we are excited to see where this year leads. I won't say January has flown by because honestly it has felt like a pretty long month. However, there are a few random things from the month that I want to share.
We had just had company for several days on New Years Eve, so we kept our NYE celebrations super low-key. Mom and Dad came over for a bit, we played some games, worked a puzzle, and of course had some yummy snacks. They left around 10pm. I had no intention of staying up until mid-night, but we made it long enough to snap these two photos while ringing in 2022. Then we promptly went to bed, lol.
Brenson and Brianna are both building clocks with Grampy in his shop. Bren worked on his clock a couple afternoons this month, and it's looking really good!
*Edited to add* - I noticed when writing this post that I didn't have a photo of the finished clock. I made sure to get one of Grampy, Bren, and the finished product. It's beautiful!
Bren also had his first basketball games of the season during January. He's playing for a local school called Owasso Prep which allows homeschooled students to play on their team. Back in the fall, we had to fill out an application, then go in for a family interview before being accepted to the team. He had a few practices in November and December, but practices have been regularly on Monday and Thursday afternoons since the beginning of the year. His games are mostly on Saturdays, and it's been fun to watch him play. Once the season is over, I'll dedicate an entire post to his basketball season.
After being out of school for a few weeks, Brooke and Brecklyn are happy to be back in their routine. One day, I received this photo from Brooke's teacher. The other girl in the photo is Addabelle, and I frequently refer to her as Brooke's frenemy. They get along great until they don't, and I think a lot of that has to do with them having a very similar personality. I guess this day they were friends (or maybe competing for Mrs. L's attention?)
We've had snow a few times this month, and the kids have really enjoyed playing in it. The girls had a "distance learning" day at least once due to snow. This is where they complete assignments and watch videos on their school tablets from home instead of going to school. Thankfully, it only takes them about an hour to complete their work for the day, and then they have the remainder of the day to play!

Ever since the three younger kids were really sick right before Christmas (with what I am convinced was COVID), Brooke has struggled to stay well. About mid-way through the month, she was sick with a fever for about four days. I felt so bad for her :-(.
Once she was feeling better (but before she could go back to school), Daddy helped her put together the terrarium she received for Christmas from Brianna.
It turned out so cute!
That evening, he also helped Brecklyn with hers!
As all the girls get older, I love to see their bond with each other grow. The twins have been very clingy with Brianna lately, but it's so cute to watch. Brianna is {mostly} patient with them and loves on them a lot.

I don't have very many photos from this month, but a lot of it was spent doing school with the big kids and taking care of sick littles. I know things will pick back up and soon we'll be busier than we care to be, so for now I'm enjoying the slower pace!
