Sapulpa Christmas Chute

This year, there is a new Christmas display in downtown Sapulpa that we had been hearing good things about. After having a nice Thanksgiving Day at home - and a relaxing day on Friday after Thanksgiving - we decided to take a trip to Sapulpa that evening to check out the Christmas Chute!

Downtown Sapulpa is about 50 minutes driving time from our house, so we left just after 4:00pm hoping to make it there before the sun set. We were successful! We found a great parking spot that allowed us to get out of the van and walk all around downtown.

One of the first things we saw was this big, beautiful tree! The top of it has the Route 66 emblem, and of course that's a sled the kids are sitting in :-).

We weren't sure exactly what to expect, but we were not disappointed! Both sides of the street downtown were lined with decorations, and each section had a different theme. It was so fun!

Santa!

This section had a traditional Christmas theme.

This one was gingerbread and bright Christmas decor.

Several of the side streets also had fun decorations. What's better than a big ornament you can stand in?!?

The photo below really shows better how things were laid out. Bren is standing in front of a section that was candy themed.

Of course, when we found out Santa and Mrs. Claus were there, we promptly got in line to meet them. Thankfully, the line wasn't long at all to get into the North Pole :-).

Even Brianna still tells Santa what she wants for Christmas!

People from Claremore always take the photo op with the railroad crossing signs!

As the sun began to set, the atmosphere was just perfect!

My crew of elves is the best!

This section had an icicle theme.

It didn't take too long to walk through everything (about an hour and a half, including meeting Santa and Mrs. Claus) . . . it was the perfect amount of time, really. It got colder (although not too bad) as the sun set, and we didn't want to be there for hours anyhow. Once we finished walking through all the sections, we took the opportunity for another photo with the Route 66 tree.

And, one last stop before heading back to the van . . . the gazebo! It looked so pretty all lit up in white lights. Just magical!

On the way home, Daddy took a small detour to go by a fun light display he used to go to as a kid. I'm pretty sure most of the displays were the same ones from 30 years ago, but the kids loved seeing the lights!

We are so glad we visited the Christmas Chute for the evening! It was a great way to kick-off the Christmas magic, and sometimes the spur-of-the-moment activities turn out to be the best!
