An All American Celebration!

I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays of the year. We typically spend most of the day at home, but even when we get together with friends or family, it's low-key and low-stress . . . I can get on-board with that!

This year, Ross and Tia decided to have a get-together at the church building on the third. The fourth fell on a Wednesday, and we all felt it would be way too late to celebrate once Bible study was over (not to mention distracting and chaotic). They provided the meat, while the rest of us provided sides, for a yummy dinner. We even had home-made ice cream!

We had a fun group of kids there, although getting a photo of all of them together was easier said than done, lol!

This was much more natural :-).

Sweet Caroline wasn't too happy this evening, but we all enjoyed loving on her.

After eating dinner, the kids had a hard time waiting to do fireworks. Thankfully, several of us had some small things for them to do while we waited for it to get dark. We were also grateful that once the sun began to set, it wasn't too hot outside at all. That's certainly not something we can say every year!

Once the sun was mostly down, Ross and Chris began our fireworks show. Ross loves to do fireworks, so the show is always a good one! Of course, as soon as they began to light the fireworks, the wind kicked up and all the spectators had to move waaaay back.

This is probably my favorite photo from the night (minus Brianna . . . not sure what she was doing because she certainly wasn't asleep!) All of our girlies were enjoying the show!

I'm not sure I could express enough what a blessing it is to have a spiritual family! I am grateful beyond words for our church family, and I love that our children are growing up with these special people in their lives.

One last thing . . . four years ago on July 3rd we found out that the baby we knew was growing in my tummy was actually babies! What an amazing day that was!!!
