Gotta Get Away, Gotta GO GO GO!

Every few years, my besties and I try to take a trip together of some sorts. Back in 2014, we went to Chicago and said that we'd do a big trip like that every three years. Last year, we were planning to go on a cruise together, but I found out I was pregnant with Bristol and that threw a kink in the plans. We canceled the trip before I lost Bristol, and I wasn't in an emotional state to make a plan for something else. We wanted to do a bigger type trip this year, but each of us had things going on that prevented that. However, we finally decided to set aside a weekend at the end of June to take a small trip together. This trip was planned before we knew Kendall would be moving to Kansas, and we are all SO thankful it was already planned!!! Kendall had just found out the weekend before this that she'd be moving, so that made this time together extra special!

Amy and I had both had the whole day on Friday, June 29th free, so we met up fairly early that morning. The first stop for us was brunch with Amy's mother-in-law and her mother-in-law's friend. We ate at a fun little breakfast place in Broken Arrow, and it was delicious!

After brunch, Amy and I headed over to Angie's house to pick her up. Then, the three of us did some shopping for a few hours. We actually went to the mall! I rarely go to the mall, so this was kind of a special treat for me!

Kendall was free around 3:30pm, so we picked her up around that time. Amy drove us to OKC where we had a room reserved for the night. During the whole trip down to OKC, we got to hear allllll the details about Kendall's move. It was just what we all wanted and needed!

We checked into our hotel and got ready to hit the town for the night!

Our hotel was in Bricktown, which was perfect for what we wanted. We could safely walk to restaurants and shops and just really enjoy being out and about.

After walking around for a bit, we decided to eat at a local Mexican restaurant. I think we were there for almost three hours! We just had so much visiting to catch up on! Once we finally left the Mexican place, we headed to The Melting Pot for some dessert . . . YUM!

Again, we just took our time eating and visiting, and it was SO wonderful! It had been a while since I'd been out with friends like that, so I was really needing this time! It wasn't too late as we were walking back to our hotel, so we had to stop for a photo op :-).

We stayed up pretty late that night talking, so the next morning we took things kind of slow. We decided to skip breakfast and do brunch at a place called Kitchen No. 324. By the time we got there and got seated, we were ready to EAT!

Neither Amy nor I could decide between the pancake and the open-faced toast, so we got both and split them. The pancake was AMAZING!

The open-faced toast was good, too, but the pancake is more my style.

After brunch, we hit up some outlet shopping. We hadn't planned much for the day because we didn't really care what we were doing, as long as we were together. We actually went to Wal-mart before the outlets, haha! I know, I know, we've gotten crazy in our old age! Our plan was to stay in OKC all afternoon and evening, then head home after we had dinner, but the weather had other plans. There was a large storm rolling in, and we didn't want to get caught driving in it. We left OKC around 3:00pm and started back toward Tulsa in order to avoid the storm.

Thankfully, we managed to miss the bad weather (and it was UGLY), and our change in plans didn't stop us from enjoying the remainder of our evening. We all felt like we wanted to enjoy every minute we had together! We ate an earlyish dinner at Osaka, then went downtown for some sweet treats.

As the sun was setting and the skies were getting darker with storm clouds, downtown Tulsa looked beautiful. We were on a rooftop deck, so it was the perfect place to capture a few photos.

Love this one of the four of us!

We had an amazing little getaway, despite the fact that we were all super emotional about Kendall moving (as well as other big life stuff we all have going on). Our evening in downtown, especially, had a heavier feel than our time together normally does. It's a little scary and a lot hard when big changes are happening, and there's a tiny part of me that can't help but feel a little insecure. However, I also know that we've all been through so much together already. These girls are the friends that I prayed and prayed God would bless me with when I felt I didn't have a crew of my own. These girls love me when I find it hard to love myself. They are my candle holders . . . when it's dark they help me see the light. I am grateful beyond words for these ladies and our cherished time together!
