Professional Pics - April 2019

Every year in the spring, I like to have the kids' photos taken. I've slacked pretty badly with this in the past couple years, but I was determined that this year would be different. My friend, Tia, has nice equipment and has taken a few photography classes, so she offered to do the kids' pics this year. I was thrilled with this idea. I thought the kids would be super comfortable and that meant we would get great photos.

We met at a park not far from her house on the evening of April 19 for the photo session. I thought it would probably be quick and easy, but I was mistaken :-(. We ended up being there for almost two hours . . . not because of Tia but because my children suddenly couldn't look, act, or smile in a natural way for anything! You'll definitely see what I mean as you scroll through the photos.

There eyes were just so dead . . . we were trying anything to liven them up!

They finally loosened up a bit!

Even Brooke - who is typically my easy one to photograph - was on the struggle bus with the fake smile.

Brecklyn was trying to be so good, but her smile was so forced.

Brenson's turn!

I love this one because it's a classic Brenson expression.

And finally, you can see those dimples!

Brianna did great . . . it was nice to have one that didn't make us work so hard.

We only thought the individual photos were challenging, haha.

I finally said forget trying a to get a group photo . . . let's change locations and outfits and maybe reset a bit! So, while I was helping the younger three get changed, Brianna quickly changed her shirt and went off with Tia to take more photos. I love the photos Tia captured except for one thing - Brianna's shirt is on BACKWARDS! Lol! Tia even asked Brianna if it was on correctly, and Bri insisted that it was *SMH*.

While Brianna was fixing her wardrobe malfunction, we tried to get photos of the twins together again. Anything somewhat natural looking was just not happening!

We also tried to get Brooke solo again.

Then Brecklyn . . . I kept thinking they would loosen up and it just wasn't happening. I do really like some of these, though.

At this point, the adults were hot, somewhat frustrated, and getting tired. Brenson had picked up a big stick, and when it was his turn to take more pics, Chris told him to put the stick down. Brenson swung his arm back - stick in hand - to throw it instead of just dropping it. When he did, he whacked Tia in the face with the stick. I was horrified! Here she was, my very dear friend, working her booty off to try and get us good pics and my kid hits her IN THE FACE with a stick. Thankfully, she didn't bleed, and she was only mad for a minute!

The stick incident definitely did not help Brenson relax and look natural for the next set of pics, haha!

I really love the first set of photos of Bri in the coral shirt, but I can't unsee the shirt being on backwards. These are good too, though!

Next, we tried a group pic again. I still don't super love any of them, but I do like a few of them better than our previous attempts.

I'm telling y'all, Tia was SO PATIENT with us this evening. I was ready to call it quits, but she suggested we try one more time to get individual photos of Brooke and Brecklyn. I'm so thankful she did because some of my favorites are among these last few she took!

I'm always so grateful to have pictures, but *whew* we had to work hard for these! There are definitely a few I love, and I think they rest of them will provide some comic relief in years to come :-).
