Boo to You!

I hope everyone had a good weekend and a great Halloween! We had a busy, wonderful day with family and friends, and I'm excited to share these pics with you!

Halloween was on a Saturday this year. At the beginning of 2020, I saw many memes posted on social media that talked about how epic 2020 would be because several holidays fell just right (such as Valentine's Day on a Friday, Cinco de Mayo on Taco Tuesday, and Independence Day and Halloween on Saturday). Well, 2020 has certainly been epic, but not because Halloween fell on a Saturday, haha!

Of course, Halloween is The Hub's birthday, and even though we celebrated him the night before, I wanted to take a photo with my older man :-).

We started off the morning with an activity the little girls have been asking to do for a few weeks now. They love melting broken crayons over pumpkins, so we decided to make that one of our activities for the day. It's easy to set up and easy to execute, so it's a favorite of mine, too!

Brecklyn and Momma

Brianna and Daddy

Not only does Brianna no longer need help with these kind of projects, now she's a helper to us!

Brenson

Bren and Momma (he did not want my help!)

Brooke and Daddy (also did not want help!)

Didn't our pumpkins turn out so pretty?!?

After lunch, we decided to tackle another project . . . carving pumpkins! This one is definitely less of a favorite for me, but the kids love it.

Brooke and Bren

I love Bren's expression!

Brecklyn and Brianna

Brooke has zero issues digging in the pumpkin goop.

Brecklyn is a little more cautious.

And Brianna? She's always thought it was gross but great!

I'm thinking Bren was unimpressed :-).

Sometimes, I like to just stand back and watch my crew. I'm so very blessed!

We carved two jack-o-lanterns, and they both came out really cute!

As soon as we finished carving jack-o-lanterns, it was time to get ready for some trick-or-treating. Since Brianna was born, we've never done much traditional trick-or-treating. Sometimes, after Boologah (the Halloween festival in Oologah), we'll trick-or-treat around Russ and Lisa's neighborhood, but that's about the extent of door-to-door type trick-or-treating. This year, however, pretty much all Halloween festivals were canceled (COVID strikes again!), and even many neighborhoods were not allowing trick-or-treaters. Thankfully, we live in a town that is a little more laid back about COVID stuff, so we got dressed up to go trick-or-treating in Grampy and G-Jo's neighborhood.

And my sweet dragon :-)

Brianna as Laura Ingalls

Brenson as Where's Waldo?

You may recognize several of these costumes from last year, and that's because we recycled them! The kids are happy to wear them again, and I'm happy to not have to buy new costumes!

We got to Grampy and G-Jo's house around 5:00pm, along with Russ, Lisa, Chloe, Ross, Tia, Sadie, and Caroline. The guys took the kids out to trick-or-treat while it was still light outside, and that gave the ladies some nice visiting time.

Most of the neighbors were very open to visitors and happy to see kids out and about! Chris said some of the kids were scared of the decorations, but that list did not include Brooke (who walked right up to the creepy guy in the photo below).

This inflatable guy is much more Brecklyn's speed!

Apparently, Brooke likes creepy things :-).

Cute little crew!

Laura Ingalls and Kim Possible

The kids had a blast trick-or-treating, especially since it was kind of a new experience for them. Once they got back to Grampy and G-Jo's house, we ate pulled pork sandwiches that G-Jo had fixed for all of us and visited some more.

I don't know why, but I'm always shocked at the amount of candy the kids get. It is ridiculous! And this year, it was mostly the really good candy like mini chocolate bars. Even though our regular festivals were canceled, I'm grateful we were still able to have fun and make some great memories! I'm not going to think about how few Halloweens I have left where I'll have four kids dressing up . . . that's the scariest thought of all, haha.
