It's that time again . . . time for our monthly round-up! March was a fairly low-key month for us - we didn't take a trip or do anything major for spring break - but there were still many good days and moments throughout the month. Here is what we were up to:
On March 1st, the big kids started track with the same team they ran on for cross country, the Owasso Falcons. Track practice is three times a week (MWF) at 8:30am for an hour, so it is a big change in our schedule. This is their first time running track, and so far they are both enjoying it.
As part of our homeschool, we've been doing a unit on the US Government since August. The unit has been great, and as one of their assignments, the big kids had to create a presentation on what we've learned. We invited my parents over to watch their presentation, and they did a great job!
For their birthdays, Brooke and Brecklyn both received a Wal-mart gift card from some family members. They've been eager to spend that money, and finally decided to each purchase a boy doll so their girl dolls could get married 😂. I kept asking them if they were sure they wanted to purchase the exact same doll, and they insisted that's what they wanted to do. So far, they are thrilled with their decision!
One weekend, I went to OKC with Tia for the night. While I was gone, Chris held down the fort with our four plus Chloe. He was pretty pleased with himself for watching five kids AND making lunch, lol.
When we first moved into our house, the lot on either side of us was empty. It stayed that way for several years, but now we have neighbors on both sides. The neighbors on the north side of us have a daughter who is about a year older than the twins. Her name is Madison, and she comes to play at our house often :-).
As I've mentioned several times on here before, we have loved the transition into being a homeschool family. One of the best perks of homeschooling is the freedom to take field trips whenever we want. This includes fun trips to the zoo with our friends!

After the first few weeks of track practice, Coach Renee started teaching the kids hurdles. It was thoroughly entertaining to watch elementary kids try to learn hurdles. My kids did pretty well, but I can't say the same for everyone!

The third week in March is typically Spring Break for Oklahoma schools. We took part of that week off, but we didn't take the whole week because my brother, sister-in-law, and niece came to visit the week after that. However, during Oklahoma Spring Break, we went on a fun outing that G-Jo planned for us. We went to paint ceramics!

We went to a fun little local shop and had a great time. I didn't paint anything as I was busy helping my kiddos, but they did great overall. Bren got a little frustrated (life of a perfectionist), but he enjoyed himself anyway. After painting, we went to Mazzio's for lunch. Sadly, when we got there, Lisa and Chloe weren't permitted to come in because the restaurant was at capacity (which is half of what it used to be due to COVID), so they had to go somewhere else :-(. We had saved them seats at our table and everything. Just ridiculous. But, all was made well when we met back at Mom and Dad's house for ice cream :-).
The next photo was taken yesterday (April 1st), but I wanted to include it here. The kids got their ceramic projects back yesterday, and they were so excited to see their work. How cute are they?!?
Since Ross has not been working for a few months (since last September), we've been able to get together with our friends a lot more often. They came over for dinner one Friday night, and after dinner Tia and I took the opportunity to escape. While we were gone, the girls dressed up their Daddies for a wedding . . . yikes!
As I mentioned above, Jeremy, Shawna, and Kaylee came to visit for a few days toward the end of the month (during their Spring Break). Kaylee stayed with us, while Jeremy and Shawna stayed with Mom and Dad. The girls love having their cousin here for a few nights!

We still had track practice and several other appointments to keep. Kaylee is happy to just ride along with me.
Like I typically do, I hosted several family dinners while they were here. One said family dinner brought with it several "incidents" that started when I dropped half of a piping hot Mexican casserole on the ground! I had made it up in an aluminum casserole dish, and the dish folded as I was pulling it out of the oven. It was a hug mess, and the floor was super slick from the grease from the meat and cheese.
*sigh*
Shawna and Mom helped me get that mess all cleaned up, and approximately five minutes later Dad dropped his plate of food on the floor. Sigh again.
Despite all of that, we had a good evening visiting and laughing, and even now I can already laugh about the craziness of that night!
For Christmas, Brooke and Brecklyn received a cake baking and decorating kit. They have been so anxious to use it, so we finally made it happen.

The cake turned out SO cute!
Our lot had ZERO trees on it when we had our house built. We've been wanting to plant some trees for a while now, but just haven't gotten it done beyond one or two small ones in the backyard. We finally moved on planting some larger things this month. We went to a local nursery to pick out the trees, and the twins were so cute sitting in front of the Koi pond while we waited for all the paperwork to be processed.

We are so thankful for another great month and the opportunities brought to us!
