When Brianna was a bit younger, she loved playing with her My Life dolls, which are Wal-mart's version of the American Girl Doll. She had a whole set-up of My Life stuff in her closet and in the corner of her room. She has mostly outgrown playing with her dolls, but her sisters have followed in her footsteps and really enjoy their dolls, too!
A while back, Tia and I had talked about taking all our girls to the American Girl Doll store in Dallas. We had been together back in 2020, and we decided then that it would be really fun for our girls to visit. More recently, Sadie and Brooke have been asking to get their ears pierced. The American Girl Doll store offers ear piercing, so Tia and I made a plan to drive to Dallas for an American Girl Doll ear piercing experience!
We headed for Dallas on the afternoon of Friday, July 29th. We drove our van as all of us (including Brianna) could fit in it together, and road trips are way more fun when everyone rides in the same vehicle! Of course, we had to stop at Buc-cee's once we reached Texas (about 5:00pm). This was a first for my girls!
They loved Buc-ee's!

Once we reached Dallas, we stopped at In-N-Out Burger for dinner. We were all about the new experiences on this trip!

We stayed at a nice hotel in Dallas, so we thought swimming would be a fun and safe activity. Unfortunately, the pool was kind of gross and full of rowdy people. Needless to say, swimming didn't last long, but the burning from the Chlorine sure did! The girls enjoyed the short swim, but none of them even asked to stay longer when we said it was time to go!

Tia's niece, Destyni, lives in the DFW area, so she met us at the hotel to hang out for the evening. We spent the remainder of our time before bed visiting with her.
Meanwhile, Chris and Bren were enjoying their time together at home. They played a game of life,
and made zucchini bread!
The next morning, we got up and got ready to go to the American Girl Doll store. We were definitely excited!
The girls looked so cute with their dolls in their backpacks waiting to go down to the lobby of the hotel!

Our cute crew walking across the parking lot! Sweet little travelers <3.
We made it!
My girls don't have any 18 inch American Girl Dolls, but we do have the smaller Wellie Wishers. They had a blast in the Wellie Wisher part of the store.
So excited to be at the American Girl Doll store! And ready to get our ears pierced!
We had made appointments and prepaid for the ear piercing, which was definitely the way to do things. It made it to where we didn't have to wait in line or to fill out paperwork. And, the girls didn't really have too much time to get nervous.
Sadie went first, and everything was super smooth. This helped Brecklyn be brave for her turn.

Almost done!
Brooke's turn!
She had her brave face on!
All done and NO tears! These girls did great and were so proud of their newly pierced ears :-).
Brianna was great moral support for this adventure!
After ear piercing, we decided to do more shopping while we waited for our lunch reservations. The girls were just the cutest in the store with their bags!
One of the best things about the store is that they have places for kids to play. Our girls all had their own dolls, so they had a blast playing with the store's accessories.
Even though Brianna doesn't play with her dolls much anymore, she really enjoyed the store.
Why do they look so much more grown up with pierced ears!?!

Dolls and all the girly stuff isn't really Tia's thing, but she did find something that took her back to her childhood. We were all amazed at her Pac-Man skillz, lol!
Brooke thinks we need a Pac-Man arcade machine our house!
In addition to tons of merchandise, places to play, a doll salon, and a restaurant, the American Girl Doll store has lots of photo op spots. Free advertising???

Once we finished exploring the store, we still had some time before our lunch reservations. We decided to walk out into the mall and watch people ice skating on the indoor rink.

As you can see, the dolls had to watch the ice-skaters, too!
There is a beautiful floral wall in the mall, and I couldn't resist taking Brianna's photo in front of it.
Finally, it was time for lunch! The American Girl Doll Cafe was so cute and decorated just perfectly. They even provided little chairs for the dolls to sit at the table with us. Because of course!
I wasn't overly impressed with the food, but this lunch was really about the experience. The girls didn't really care about the food at all (although they did eat it).
What a fun way to end our visit to the American Girl Doll Store!
It was a little after 2:00pm when we left Dallas to head back to Oklahoma. Of course, we had to stop at Buc-ee's again on the way home!
The guys were home to greet us when we got home, but they had spent the day having a little fun of their own. This included visiting a fresh peach store in Porter, Oklahoma,
and paying a visit to the USS Batfish in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The submarine, unfortunately, wasn't open for touring due to some damage it sustained in the floods of May 2019. They were happy they got to see it, though!
It was a fast and furious trip, but girls' excitement made it all worth it! They were thrilled with the store experience and with their pierced ears!
