We had some unexpected things happen in January that consumed a good part of our month (you can read about it here). However, even with the hospital stay and forced downtime, there was fun and good filling in the gaps. Here are some of the things that were part of our month.
Brooke and Brecklyn received some neat coloring kits from Grampy and G-Jo for Christmas. They were very anxious to try them out, and the activities were really enjoyable for them.
Brecklyn got a butterfly coloring kit.
They really loved mixing colors and watching the colors run together.
Brooke's kit was flowers.
This was a perfect activity for curious little girls!
Brooke got dressed for church one Sunday morning, and I had to laugh when I noticed she paired cheetah print with cheetah print. Always my spicy girl!
My kiddos tend to cycle with their toys. They will be really into something for a while, then that thing will seemingly be forgotten for something else. Lego is one thing they tend to come back to over and over again, though. I have noticed that Lego seems to appear more frequently in the winter months, and that has certainly been the case recently.
The big kids and I are working through a Chemistry unit for their science this year. It has been engaging for them, and I'm pretty sure Brenson's favorite day of the week is Chemistry demonstration day!
I'm glad Bren isn't too big to snuggle his momma yet. I have a feeling that day is coming soon, though.
I'll do a separate post all about basketball, but several of our Saturdays were game days in January. Bren is really growing as a player, and it's been an enjoyable season!
On the day I took Chris in for his follow-up appointment with Dr. T (his urologist), Brenson and Brianna spent the morning at Grampy and G-Jo's house. I never know what position I will find them in while they're studying or doing their schoolwork. Especially Brenson!
For the last several years, I've taken weeknight classes through the Online Academy of Biblical Studies (OABS). In January, I began new classes, and Brianna and Chris decided to join me.
We are taking a class on Isaiah together with Hank Lawrence as the instructor. This has been a great way for me to grow, and something I look forward to!
Since the girls were home from school for two days right before their birthday, I let them open one of their birthday gifts early. They weren't excited or anything, lol.
It was a Polly Pocket playset!
January definitely brought with it some unexpected happenings and excitement. I'm hoping February won't have those types of surprises in store, but we'll just do our best to take it in stride if so. Through all the ups and downs, we try to keep our focus on the Lord and how He blesses us!
