Brooke and Brecklyn are Eight Years Old!

Another birthday for my sweet Twinbies! I feel like eight years old is the official gateway into big kid status, and of course my heart isn't ready for it. Sigh. At the same time, we are so blessed by our eight year old Twinbies, and I'm trying to soak up every moment of that!

Brooke and Brecklyn's birthday was on a Friday this year. Icy conditions coupled with frigid temperatures resulted in them being out of school on both Wednesday and Thursday before their birthday. However, it was back to school on Friday, and I'm pretty sure the girls were excited to get to share their birthday with their classmates!

Per their request, we had pumpkin muffins for their birthday breakfast.

Brecklyn and Brooke . . . EIGHT years old!

Then, we had them go into their bedroom for a minute while we got out their birthday gifts. They were so excited to see that they . . .

. . . had both gotten a new bicycle!

And of course they had to immediately take them for a ride in the house, haha!

Their bicycles were their main birthday gift, but they had just a few other smaller things to open. We got right to it before we had to leave to take them to school for the day.

What could it be?

New sandals! Yay! Brecklyn had specifically asked for "Birkenstock" style sandals for her birthday, so they both got a pair!

I also wanted to take their birthday photos before they went to school while they still looked fresh. Considering we leave the house at 7:30am on school days, we were on the ball! The balloon arch was a new addition to our birthday decor this year, and it made a fantastic photo backdrop.

I think they look less and less alike with each passing year.

Love these girls so much!

Both girls wanted to take cookies to school to share with their classmates. I was disappointed that I wasn't permitted to join them at school for their birthday . . . I even asked if I could come eat with them for lunch and the answer was no. Ridiculous. However, I was pleased when Brecklyn's teacher sent me a few photos of Brecklyn from the day. I wish Brooke's teacher had done the same.

That evening, we invited Grampy, G-Jo, the Earls, and the Swearingens over for pizza, cake, and ice cream. We are grateful for our people who want to celebrate our kiddos with us!

Excited girlies!

After food, singing, and cake, the kids opened a few gifts from our guests. They are always happy for gifts, but they are more happy for the company!

The girls went to bed very happy with their day. It's crazy to think that we now have two 8 year olds, a 10 year old, and a 12 year old! I hope they always know how special and cherished they are!
