Ever since we took a break from doing a VBS during the whole Covid mess, I feel like we have struggled with support and attendance for VBS. I have even wondered recently if maybe this isn't the place we need to be putting our time and efforts, but I always come to the conclusion that it is a good and needful work for this season. Even if it's not as well attended as in the past or as we would like, it's something that I want to do for my kids.
This year, I didn't really begin working on VBS until after we got home from vacation. I had less than two weeks to pull it all together, and it felt pretty stressful at times. Chris and the kids were a huge help - and there is something really special about working together on a project. But even though it's been a few years, I still miss doing it with my sister and found myself just feeling kind of down about everything this year.
However, just when I needed it most, I got the motivation I needed. Things came together smoothly, and we had several community visitors - more than we have since before C-vid. The kids from our congregation (and some from other places) told us how much they loved it. My student even told me that she liked Bible class more than regular school! So grateful for this encouragement!
Our theme this year was Joseph - From Pit to Palace. It felt very timely . . . there are few characters in the Bible I find more encouraging than Joseph!
Decor in the multi-purpose room:
Entering the hallway - this is the first time we've ever tried pillars like this.

My class was in the nursery this year. Here is my door:

Other classroom decor:
Brooke, Brecklyn, Sadie, and Caroline did this great design on parking lot for us. Sadly, it was washed away on Sunday night.
As usual, Chris led the auditorium time before and after classes.
I only had one student this year, but we had a great class. It was fun to remove the table and sit on floor pillows!
Lisa and Mom taught the 1st-3rd grade class.
Tia had a crew in the 4th-6th grade class . . . she had two other students who are not pictured here.
Our biggest class this year were the teens, taught by Grampy. The kids were very happy that several of their friends were able to join them.
The teen class on a different night:
This photo doesn't include all the kids we had in attendance because not everyone was there on the same night. I'm glad we have this one, though!
Silly pic . . . because of course!
We are blessed with many amazing sunsets at the church building. They just never get old!

Grampy, Bri, Brooke, Chloe, Sadie, Bren, Brecklyn, and Caroline
One the last night, we even had a rainbow!
Just the reminder I needed on our final night of VBS . . . God's majesty and greatness displayed in the sunset 💛. Thank you, God, for this opportunity to teach and serve!
