Momma Bear Update

Thanks for all your advice and suggestions on my Momma Bear post. I was really hoping that I wouldn't have to address the problem again, but unfortunately that was not the case.

I'm not sure why John Doe is suddenly targeting Brianna in class, but I have a few ideas. First, I think it's because B is the youngest (and therefore smallest) child in class. Also, the last two weeks, John Doe and his nanny have sat by us in class, so I think proximity has a lot to do with it. Last, the boy that John Doe normally gives all his attention to has wanted nothing to do with him. Of course, this is because John Doe has been really mean to this little boy at the beginning of class for the past two weeks, so I don't feel sorry for him.

Anyway, on to what happened this week.

Basically, John Doe tried to hit B for no reason again this week. I was keeping a super close eye on her, though, and grabbed her before he made contact. Then, I sternly and loudly said, "No!" John Doe didn't seem to care, but Nanny didn't like that one bit. She grabbed him and tried to keep him away from me for a while.

Of course, John Doe does what John Doe wants to do, and staying in his area was not it. So, it wasn't long until he was running the room again. When he zoomed by Brianna, he grabbed her arm and started shaking her. I promptly scooped her up, looked at John Doe, and in my sternest Mommy voice said, "NO! DO NOT TOUCH!"

Nanny came to his rescue and was very diligent to keep him away from me (and therefore my child) for the rest of class. I'm pretty sure she was not happy with me, but guess what? I DON'T CARE. And believe me, that is very unusual for me. I generally care too much what people think of me. If I think someone is mad at me, it usually worries me and stresses me out. This is different though. This kid is out of control, and my child will not be the victim of his recklessness.
I really do hate that this kid feels the need to be mean to the other children in class. I hope that he figures out how to behave a little better so that we can all get back to enjoying our {usually} super-fun class!

Good for you!

Yay for you! Nanny would probably do the same thing if John Doe was being bullied!

I'm sorry you had to be the one to step in. The teacher, since Nanny won't, really needs to do her job and correct the situation.
