I knew you were trouble when you walked in . . .

Well, I just got really personal on here and gave myself away as a Taylor Swift fan *hangs head in shame*. As cheesy as it is, I really do like her music. And especially the song that inspired this post's title :-).

Before having children of my own, I would frequently hear people talk about how different boys are from girls. And I totally believed that it was true. I mean, men are from mars and women are from venus (or is it the other way around? Hmm.), so it stands to reason that little boys and little girls possess those same characteristics.

Now that I'm experiencing this first-hand, it's really quite amazing. I would never have guessed all the ways in which Brianna and Brenson would be so different, and while some of that probably has nothing to do with gender, much of it probably does.

Brianna was (and is) a free spirit who loves adventure. She's not scared of things. She loves to climb. She hasn't really developed a healthy sense of fear. I mean, she climbed out of her crib when she was only 13 months old and came running into the kitchen. So, when Brenson came along, I thought, "How much worse could it be?" Haha, I'm cute, right?

Well, let's just say that it is worse. A lot worse. Brenson tends to be more reserved in new situations and definitely less out-going than Brianna, but he too has that streak that loves adventure and mischief. And it's incredible how quickly he can find it when I'm pretty much right by his side all day long. Sigh.

Here are just a few of the {many} examples:

Bren climbed right in his toy box that's in his closet.

He can open all of our closet doors by himself now . . . did you know that? Me either.

Oh, this was fun. He opened the pantry and helped himself to the cereal. He actually spilled the Raisin Nut Bran all over the floor. That was a joy to clean up :-).

The boy loves bathtime, so he decided to help himself to the bath tub. Can you see the red mark on his forehead from where he dove head-first into the tub? Apparently, that wasn't a problem for him, though.

For whatever reason, Bren loooooves hangers? So, he went in our closet, pulled down one of Daddy's dress shirts, and proceeded to play with the hanger. See the dress shirt crumpled up on the floor?

The bathroom has become a bit of a battleground. His favorite thing is to go in there, get up on the stool, and play in the sink. Fortunately, he hasn't figured out how to turn the water on . . . yet.

One day, I even caught him playing in the toilet. Ummm, YUCK. Like his hand was wet and everything. *shivers* Brianna NEVER did this! I know the obvious solution is to close the door, but Brianna needs quick access to the bathroom. She's barely three and when she has to go, she has to go.

On this day, I was putting in a load of laundry and Brianna was crafting at the table. She took a quick potty break, and when I came in the kitchen, this is what I found (love the "oops, I'm caught" look!):

He promptly sat down and just grinned at me.

He knew it would be hard for me to discipline him if he acted really cute :-).

I cringe a little when I think that he is just 13 months old, AND he has only been walking for a few weeks. Being a *boy mom* sure is different, but I love it! I'm so blessed that I get to be on this adventure with my little man :-).

Um...I would love if Nora even attempted any of those things. She still hasn't figured out how to sit up from laying down. Apparently, she is not one to just go exploring movements on her own...we have to show her how. Ugh. I'm fearing at our 12month appt the the DR wil RX some physical therapy. Although I want to do what's best for her, I'd rather not have to pay that $40 copay for every visit!

i honestly think it's a difference due to birth order...Britt is JUST LIKE THIS. She's ALLLL over the place. Into everything. Fearless. My WILD CHILD! Kye is the one that is less adventurous, more cautious etc. ;)

Granted I don't have the "girl mom" in me to compare it to, but I am with you 100% on being a boy mom is quite the adventure. Carter gets into new things everyday and it astounds me! I sure do love my boy :)

He is so cute! Yes, there is a definite difference between boys and girls no matter what some people say! You've probably seen the definition of a boy: noise with dirt on it! So, so true!
